I think it sounds about as good as it can possibly get with that style of speaking. I mean it's basically 100% raspy - not saying thats good or bad, but there is only so much you can do when you're basically red-lining your vocal chords like that. I mean, he's not going to be singing scales in the Batman voice or anything.

It doesn't seem as over the top for me. It's somewhat restrained. "Raspy", but not overly loud.

I liked it too, but it didn't always sound right for me in some scenes. I think he may have perfected it now, possibly by slowing it down as Crook pointed out.

Just throwing this out there, but from :25 to around :30 in the imax featurette i was just wondering if anyone thinks the music in this scene could be part of the joker theme? It sounds like it has just two notes much like what has been said the joker theme consists of.

I was actually just listening to it, and I couldn't find it anywhere in the track but maybe it is, maybe they stripped it down. but it just sounds different. Like I said I was just throwing it out there.

Here's the link for molossus. Sorry for the confusion. I downloaded the wmv hd featurette clip on the main page of this thread and it is in the 25 sec. mark to the 30 sec. mark in the wmv clip which is different from the actual feature. it sounds different than anything I remember from the original score. Also I remember in an interview with zimmer, and howard from a while ago they quoted the joker theme as being a similar composition to the Jaws theme. And that brief clip in the imax featurette did kind of remind me of the Jaws theme in a way, just with a different beat.

I've noticed that in the IMAX trailer, the part where Bruce tells that Rachel "Did you mean it?" on the balcony, the color correction is way different from Trailer #3. It's more bleached out. It's a bit more consistent when you compare the two side by side actually.

yes, i was a film student too and it's hard to get into the biz when you don't have connections. it's even harder when you're not in the upper class, espically now with today's terrible economy.

It's strange, but people have noticed similarities between Ledger's Joker and other characters. Either Nicholson's Joker or even Keaton's Beetlejuice. And yeah, I can see what they mean. Because in this new preview I've seen bits and pieces myself. When he's saying "HIT ME!" and his face is snarling with pure defiance I can't help but be reminded of Bob Hoskins and Edward G. Robinson. Ledger's got this classic loose cannon quality to him.
I think that this role is so well acted that people see what they want to in it. They attach their own ideas and comparisons because it captures so many things at once. Many times I've heard Ledger's lines and they felt familiar. As though I had heard someone else say them. It's really quite amazing.
