Hi everybody, and welcome to the new Batman Comic Recommendation Thread!!! With The Dark Knight Rises coming in a little over a year, I figured that all fans alike, whether around from the get-go or brand new to the world of Batman, we need to band together and get down where it all began!

That being said, let's get this going; anybody who has any read anything new to their eyes, has any favorite graphic novels they would like to talk about, any questions about source material, etc., don't shy away gang. :woot:

I'll start first: I've been doing my research and putting together ideas in which comic books TDKR might base the film off of. For those who're looking up anything they can on Bane, I've got a few shout outs I highly recommend.

-Batman: Vengeance of Bane I & II (first appearance and origin)
-KnightFall Volumes 1-3 (might be cheaper to find than in back issues)
-Bane of the Demon No. #1-4

my favorites have always been to Loeb/Sale collaborations:
-The Long Halloween
-Dark Victory
-Haunted Knight

and of recently:
-Heart of Hush

The last Batman thing I read was Jim Lee's HUSH and then Miller's "All Star Batman."

My favorites are The Killing Joke & The Dark Knight Returns, of course.
The Long Halloween is another favourite as well as.
A Lonely Place of Dying was a good read.
Mad Love is fun.

i like

The Killing Joke
Knightfall
The Long Halloween
The Dark Knight Returns
Dark Victory

Batman Year Two and Batman Full Circle. Highly underrated stories of The Batman. I also believe this is what DC Universe Original Movies had in mine when they thought about an R rated batman movie.

I'd actually never heard of Batman Full Circle; what's that one about?

I'll look into Year Two; I believe that one is with the Reaper, correct?

Yes that's correct but its more about someone else in the story. It's very dark and I believe people don't give it any credit because it takes the casual and hardcore fans out of their comfort level they have with Batman comics.

Gotta love the ones who dare to be different. :word:

I noticed alot of people enjoyed Loeb and Sale's work with Batman, which is always good criteria. Has anybody read Catwoman: When In Rome, by any chance? I've heard it about only in small bits and pieces, and has always caught my curiosity having it be the prequel to LH and DV.

It really makes me wonder if they'll use anymore of that for TDKR, mainly because-

*SPOILERS*

-they hint that Selina Kyle was a bastard child of Carmine Falcone, and she's out to get what's hers from the old mobster. That being said, it'd be cliche to bring him back having that Two-Face died in TDK, but it would always be fun to see Wilkinson return.

At any rate, back onto CW: WIR, I couldn't help but look up picks, and notice how that version of Selina looks like Anne Hathaway. Seriously.

Rather iconic, don't you think? :wow:
