fair enough, and i agree, gives gravitas to tv shows.

interesting how the original reason it was shot that way because the movie makers didn't want TV and the big screen to be compatible.

I was at the MTV Movie Awards the other night and was lucky enough to have this exchange with Ken Jeong as he was walking by:

Me: "Senor Chang!"
Jeong: "*Chuckle* Hey man, how's it goin? Thanks for watching!"
Me: "It's totally my favorite show on tv right now!" (It's actually my fourth favorite behind It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Parks & Recreation and Archer, but I wasn't gonna tell him that.)
Jeong: "Thanks, that means a lot. We work hard on it."
Me: "Yeah, the paintball episode? ****ing awesome!"
Jeong: "Haha, right? That episode should've had movie credits."

Then my friend got a pic with him. I was in shock that I actually got to have a conversation with him so I didn't think to jump in the pic and after he took it, he was gone. :(

Dude I am so jealous. Not only would it have been awesome to have been there but to actually met Ken. His little speech he gave when he won for best WTF moment made me tear up bad. He seems like such a humble and appreciative guy. I'm starting to think the he is a comedic god in a meat-suit

I know the difference between bars/no bars. I'm just saying, if I have a wide-screen tv already, it should be possible for the film to fill the screen in wide-screen.

Not all widescreen is the same aspect ratio, though.

Here's some great links to help explain the differences in aspect ratios, why the "bars" still show on some widescreen movies even when you're watching it on a widescreen tv, and some great examples of what you're missing when you watch a "fullscreen" version of a show/movie that was originally made in widescreen format:

Lucky bastard^

The Troy football episode was on last night.

Jeff: I'm saying, you're a football player. It's in your blood!
Troy: That's racist.
Jeff: Your soul?
Troy: That's racist.
Jeff: Your eyes?
Troy: That's gay.
Jeff: That's homophobic.
Troy: That's black.
Jeff: That's racist.
Troy: Damn

One of my favorite scenes in the show. :]

I love how that repeat of the football episode seemed to say "Hey everyone, we heard how all of you on the internet were complaining about Annie and Jeff making out.... just take a look at this."

Then there is the Halloween episode, the debate episode and a few more.

Really don't like them making out.

Troy and Annie needed to get together, IMO.

Yet that one football episode was the exact reason why Troy and Annie ain't happening.

Nah, it's already happened. And probably more than one. [blackout] in their trailers on set[/blackout].

Well that's Donald/Alison.... and a whole 'nother bag of kittens.

"I would say this is ridiculous but I dont want it to turn into another Avatar" Hahaha I love that line so much

Tonights episode is the one that really got me into the show. Shirly making fun of micro-nipples.

Also one of my favorite episodes, because it establishes Abed as not just a weird nerd, but possibly something from another dimension.

He may just be. Im thinking he actually knows hes in a fictional universe. Which if you were aware of the fact that you are existing in a fictional universe that would make you like a demi-god

LOL, I've always thought so too (check out my comment on page 29).

Ive literally watched like every ep of this show now like 5 times each and still to this point I'll watch an ep and hear lines I never even heard before. Its like the Lost of comedies you'll notice something new everytime you watch it just with this it makes you laugh your ass off.

Im getting worried Im gonna wear this show out before the boxset even comes out

"What I don't understand is, he never wears shoes, never wears shirts. How the hell hasn't he died from lack of service?!?!" Hahahahaha

Ok I think I may be reading too much into this but watching the whole first season all the way through you start to notice alot of fore-shadowing early on. Like they will mention something like someone being like Hawkeye then a couple eps later they devote almost a whole episode to Abed acting like Jeff is Hawkeye. There's a hell of a lot of instances like this too ie, the robots Pierce dress up as in their spanish presentation look alot like Kick-Puncher. There alot more to just can't think of all of em off hand.

Just wandering if anybody else has noticed this at all. I really only noticed it cuz I've now watched the entire first season like 10 times lol

yeah I have noticed that too, the most noticable one is the Deans obsession with dalmations, I mean it all started off with him saying '' this better not awaken anything inside me''

I picked up on similar things too dude. Infact, I remember thinking that the writers of the show are either VERY clever with all of their little plot threads, or they are extremely good at recalling small tidbits from past episodes and incorporating into later episodes.

Yea dude! Its freaking insane how they do it! Like in one of the early eps someone tells Jeff he should cool down and go take a pottery class or something then like around 15 eps later we get the pottery episode and Jeff of course does anything but cool down. It's ****ing brilliant writing and if it keeps it up next season this will be by far the best comedy ever. Im allready thinking its better than Arrested Development which almost pains me to say for real lol

If this show proves on thing its that Chevy Chase is back to the comedic form that made him one of the top comedic actors of the 1980's. He was Fletch and Clark Griswold.

As a fan of 80's comedies, I have always wanted to see 80's comedic actors make major comebacks. Good to see Chevy has made that comeback.
