Late 2007, United Arab Emirate-based Al Ahli Group and Marvel Entertainment, Inc. announced a partnership that will bring Marvel's full library of Super Heroes - including Spider-Man, Iron Man, The X-Men, Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer - to Dubai for a major new theme park destination being developed by AAG. The Marvel Super-Heroes theme park project was supposed to open in 2011 with an investment of over $1 billion USD but apparently it seems that it will open now in 2012.

Most of Marvel super-heroes will have their own attractions including the Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man, X-Men, Silver Surfer and of course Spiderman in what will be probably a different ride than the Spiderman ride at Universal Islands of Adventure. Also, according to a a recent post of Brady Mac Donald of the L.A Times "Off-site testing has already begun on three of the planned attractions: "Flying with Spidey", "Fantasticar" and "X-Men: Danger Room".

Wow. Thanks for sharing those. I'm going to have to start saving for a trip to Dubai immediately now. That looks very impressive. Perhaps if it's successful enough, Disney will try to replicate a similar experience in the States.

Does anyone find it rather funny how Dubai is getting a full superhero theme park before US/EU? :D Great concepts!

Sodding Dubai. Flights to the US are hugely cheaper than Dubia, and we can all afford to actually stay the night in the US.

The concept art is pretty cool. But those area names on the top map are apalling! Surely it should be things like Blue Area of the Moon, Genosha, Latveria, Wakanda, SHIELD Helicarrier. Not "Nick Neighbourhood". Are they taking the piss?

is this still going forward since Dubai is in the middle of a financial crisis

Not really. They're overflowing with money and they like throwing it around like it's going out of style.

Damn. just....damn. That is very impressive. I guess its official, Marvel is out to rule the world. DC needs to catch up. lol

I know, but so's the rest of the world. So relative to everyone else, they're still filthy, stinking rich.

Where is the DC Version?

But regardless! HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!! :wow: :wow:
I want to live there!!

Write Warner Bros. and tell them to ramp up their movie production so people actually care about DC's franchises again. All this other stuff follows from the movies, pretty much.

It's called Six Flags.

Dubai? Why would they NOT put it right next to Disney World in Orlando? Or even California?

The concept work is pretty cool though. It looks like Islands of Adventure ramped up to an entire park level instead of just a corner.

The Spider-Man and Incredible Hulk rides are gonna be tough to beat though...That Hulk coaster is amazing!!

Sweet! I'm moving to Dubai!

Wait....is it safe for Americans? I'm gonna stay home and hide under the covers.

There is no chance in HELL I'm ever stepping foot in Dubai!!! People have gone to jail for the following reasons: Being gay, "flipping the bird," and adultery. Now, about the adultery claim, it was the woman's former husband telling the police that she was having an affair.

Uh uh...no way!

Edit: Oh, and the court wants to take the woman's children away from her, AFTER they deport her back to Britain.

I've been to Dubai it aint that bad

Personally, I wouldn't support a country's economy that views homosexuality as a criminal offense.

their country their rules

This is beyond rules, such as "don't drive over 55" or "no smoking within 25 feet of a business." This is persecution of a people because of who they are or what they believe. It's the same as being Jewish during the heyday of Nazi Germany. And, I don't think we'd say "their country their rules" to that.
