Constantine Season 1, Episode 13 "Waiting For The Man" General Discussion

Flash is so much better than Arrow, Gotham, Constantine, SHIELD, and Carter it's not even funny. It's legitimately hard for me to believe that the Arrow creative staff is even involved, because as far as I'm concerned Arrow at its peak was about as good as the worst episode of Flash.

Flash is the only one of the five shows that has absolute faith in its premise. It's not an analog for another superhero that they couldn't use (see: Arrow/Batman), it's not a watered down treatment of the source material (Constantine), it's not a half origin story half side character police procedural (Gotham), and it's not a "me too" show set in a universe full of much better and more interesting characters (SHIELD, Carter).

It's a Flash show, all the way. It's not afraid of its source material. It's not afraid of super speed, time travel, talking gorillas, ridiculous costumes, crossovers, etc. They decided to make a full-on Flash show and didn't look back.

Sounds like a comment that belongs in the Flash forums.

It was a follow up to the discussion that immediately preceded that post.

It's not like this forum is a whirlwind of discussion anyway. If four separate posters on the previous page can discuss Flash/Arrow here, I don't see why I can't.

Okay .
Fair enough.
Do you have an opinion on the season finale for Constantine?

It wasn't a bad episode on its own merits, but as a season/series finale it left a lot to be desired. No Chas, no resolution to the rising darkness issue, no resolution for the Zed/father story arc.

I think they should have known this would be the last episode when NBC cut its episode order to 13 from the initial 16. No show has ever survived having its order cut except during writers' strikes.

And with that in mind, they should have resolved the.major ongoing arcs. As it stands this reminds me of Young Justice, which ended on a good episode but didn't necessarily wrap everything up.

As a finale it could have been better but I get the feeling they were trying to toe that thin line between a resolution and cliffhanger and it fell too far into cliffhanger. There just wasn't time to do anything for a proper resolution given the short time frame they had.

I think it was probably originally the midseason finale.
My guess is in the actual season finale, Zed's Father would kidnap her again .
And in the second season premiere,
Manny would help rescue Zed .
At the end of the episode,
We would discover that Zed is a very important part of Mannys plans.

They really just said 'eff it' with the smoking huh? That final silhouetted scene under the bridge was pure Constantine, from the longer coat, the hairstyle, the cig, and especially the first thing he says to Manny. Speaking of which, what a twist.

The adaptation of the 'Man' story was also wayyy creepy and atmospheric. Great cinematography. The Midnite stuff was intense as well.

My only gripe was the Corrigan/Zed thing. The scene at the end, with the music and John walking in at the wrong moment, felt lifted from a CW show.

Overall, an awesome way to end the series, if this is in fact the end.

Pfft! As if the CW think their cool enough to use a Hozier song when both NBC and FOX repectively have the last four months to promote the show, Grimm and Fox had it for one of their promos for Empire

So sorry I have got to end, really enjoying the show and this last episode was great, did not see that ending coming either, Manny you sneaky bastard.
