I got this idea from the CBR forums....post your controversial opinions on DC characters here.
*I think that Post Crisis Superman is the most overrated version of the character. "Man of Steel" was an overrated miniseries with great art, but it kickstarted a version of superman that has pretty much ruined the character. The continuity changes have lead to an endless mess of trying to change superman's history, and trying to make Supes more like a marvel character in general has a made him boring. IMO, its not surprising that the most critically acclaimed version of the character in the last decade is one that pretty much ignores much of the ideas started in post crisis. There were some good stories, but overall, not really a fan.
*I dont blame DC for "going back to the Silver Age". Characters like Wally West and Kyle Rayner progressed to their natural conclusions. They were mainly interesting because we got to see them grow...and now that they're experienced, they're no longer interesting enough to carry a title by themselves. Hal and Barry are like Bruce and Clark in that you can probably tell more stories with them over a long period of time, not to mention their iconic status. Most replacements are just gimmicks, IMO.
*Batman and Catwoman should never end up together. IMO, both characters are too stubborn to actual commit to each other without one of them going against their basic natures...in fact, I find Selina loses her edge when she's with Bruce.
*Speaking of Batman, Bruce getting replaced with Dick is the best thing that happened to Bruce....Batman and Superman suffer from the same problem: DC has stopped trying to write them as actual characters...if not for morrison and dini, i probably wouldnt be reading batbooks right now, and hopefully JMS puts Clark back on track
