I thought they were retelling Superman's origins again because they wanted to get rid of Brithright.

They did get rid of Birthright. The official stance is that it's no longer in continuity. Also, they're not retelling the origins in the Confidentials, they're expanding on incidents from Batman and Superman's early histories.

Damn. I liked that one.
Up Up and Away could have been the definitive Superman origin had it not devolved into what basically amounts to Luthor's plot in Superman Returns.

I'm fairly sure Birthright's out of continuity. I could be wrong, though. I never liked it much. I didn't even bother to finish reading it.
