Coolest female characters in video games of the current generation

I reckon one of the things this generation has done better than previous generations is coming up with some genuinely cool female characters for gamers.

Who would you say is your favourite? I love them all. I was going to include princess peach because she's pretty much there every generation but she didn't really do anything specifically this generation so oh well.

Lara Croft and Elena Fisher are my top two favourites. Ellie from The Last of Us was great too although I wasn't wrapped on the game itself. I also enjoyed Sherry and Sheva in Resident Evil. Jill Valentine and Ada Wong are cool too, but I don't think either of them did anything special compared to previous generations.

Yeah, how GLADoS isn't on the list is beyond me.

Glados is a better character than Chell. All Chell is is just a skin for the player. The real main character in Portal is Glados. She's the main antagonist and chell never does a thing to contribute to the story besides moving forward. There's no talking, no actions beyond base survival. Chell could be played by a monkey with a portal gun and it'd be the same. Glados is the one who brings personality to the series.

I like Chell. I limited the options just to main characters who were female plus an option to write something in if you want but I had a fairly good understanding of Chell as a character from the taunts Glados used to barb her with

That was my problem with her. There is nothing from her at all. Every single bit of info we have is taken from others and as far as we know it could all be false.

The new Lara Croft is probably the most likeable. There's cooler, like half of the females in Mass Effect & Gears of War but Lara is the best "new" female character and I hope they keep this version for a long time.

I'm not crazy about FPS either but I loved the Bioshock series due to the story and characters.
