Well that was my question / Statement somewhat earlier in this thread. Isn't the Cosmic Cube on the same power level as the Infinity Gauntlet?

I coincidentally asked it without knowing there was actualy going to be an infinity gauntlet in the Thor Movie.

Surfer

So Odin is a god, has the Cosmic Cube, and the Infinity Gauntlet? Wow the Frost Giants don't stand a chance!

In theory, going by what they are described to be able to do (basically anything the user can think of) I would say they are. But I kinda missed most of the Infinity Gauntlet deal in the books so I don't know for sure. I think Thanos went to some effort to make the thing though suggesting it trumps the cube.

For the movies it would be neat if the weapons are evenly matched and it's down to the users will power who wins. Not too sure about making them both Asgardian weapons though, even if that would allow them to bypass a lot of the exposition required to give a more accurate comic book origin to them.

Lol. Just what I was thinking. With weapons like those why would he give a crap about keeping the peace with anyone, let alone a bunch of grumpy old Frost Giants?
I suppose they could say Odin has not made the weapons (nor are they of Asgardian origin) but knowing how dangerous they are (absolute power corrupting absolutely and all that) has acquired them and vaulted them to keep them away from anyone.

Isnt war with the Frost giants part of Ragnarok...regardless if they had the Cosmic cube, in the Infinity Gauntlet next to a nuclear war head they are destined to die...bog reason to want to keep the peace

Should the cosmic cube be in "The First Avenger: Captain America"?

I voted no because I would rather see the companion cube :cwink::awesome:

in the clip they showed us during the marvel panel at comic con, the red skull is indeed after the cosmic cube, it seemed. unless it was a fake out of some kind.

Well, by that reasoning you could argue the Giants could get anything they wanted off Odin if he is gonna ***** out of any conflict with them for fear of bringing on Ragnarok. Besides, I think there's meant to be other 'signs' before any war breaks out, which I think includes more than just the Giants anyway (think the big climactic battle of Ragnarok includes just about everyone, Fenris, Surtr, the ship of the dead, etc, iirc)

I'm looking forward to Cosmic Cube. It'd make for a good plot point in the movie, it'd also make it feel like Indiana Jones. :D

The cosmic cube might make the film an epic by raising the stakes.

But it could come off as corny if not executed properly.

and used it as a way to tie into Thor.

I love it when a plan comes together

Based on the footage description, so far its being used PERFECTLY. Like the arc of the covenant in Raiders of the lost Arc.

Definitely yeah. I hope the Cosmic Cube is some sort of macguffin, just like Indiana Jones.

The Cube should be a great plot device. Can imagine Cap's battling the Skull over it would be the reason he winds up in the ice as well (chasing a Baron Zemo rocket after stopping the Skull with the cube would be a bit of step back story wise).

pretty cool the cosmic cube is going to be in the film. cant wait to see the story around it.

So is the cosmic cube the same cube that loki has in front of him in the thor trailer? you know the green one.

Wait wait...if i'm reading these posts right....the Cosmic Cube will make an appearance in Thor AND Captain America?

We don't know if the Cube will pop up in Thor, but in Cap it's found by the Red Skull in an old crumbled ruin. Skull mentions Odin and Yggsdrasil is carved on the wall, so it's some kind of temple or somehow associated with the Asgardians.

That scene with Skull seeking the cube could be a bridge for Cap to Avengers... and be the threat that no single hero can overcome.

OK, So the Human Torch is playing Cap. In that movie they mention the cube belonging to Odin, which links to the Infinity Gauntlet seen at comic-con. Then, as if by Magic from the gods themselves Fantastic Four is getting a reboot, probably with a release before The Avengers. Are we gonna ******* Surfer and Galactus again. I'm Getting a little nervous.

Yea, Thor Looks great, Na, Chris Evans Does not (I feel so bad for his discomfort in the muscle suit, Great job to Kenneth Branagh for bulking up for the role). Did they get Chris because of the emaciated Steve Rogers? Or are they going on the hopes that not that many people saw the FF messes as they were. I'm trying to be optomistic but when people agree with the loss of Ed Norton because the Ang Lee Hulk was such a great movie as compared to Ed Nortons ( got me on that one ). Maybe Absorbing Dad will make another appearance.
And they think Ant Man is a bad idea. Why would the Avengers have Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym involved, that would be as silly as having the Wasp. Keep trying guys. I hope the don't make a Fantastic mess of it all.

Cast
Chris Hemsworth ... Thor
Mark Ruffalo ... Bruce Banner
Chris Evans ... Steve Rogers / Captain America
Jeremy Renner ... Clint Barton / Hawkeye
Robert Downey Jr. ... Tony Stark / Iron Man
Scarlett Johansson ... Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow
Samuel L. Jackson ... Nick Fury
Tom Hiddleston ... Loki (rumored)
Clark Gregg ... Agent Phil Coulson
Neal McDonough ... Dum Dum Dugan (rumored)

Who's missing?
