Costume.

I'm really not digging it. The design looks fine, but it looks so fake. It's like a good photoshop image of a bad photoshop image.

The costume shouldnt look organic. The ring is a piece of technology not biology.

The lines by themselves don´t mean the suit has anything organic. The suit is created by the ring, on film it will probably look more like energy.

Lot easier to do a final effect version of a single image than live footage. So why release a (possibly) half arsed image? This image should really be as final a look as we'll see on screen.

I'm getting the feeling that if no one knew it was CGI created more people would like it.

Those early pics almost never look quite like the final product on screen, even because the final look of the film is altered subtly even in post-production. These things are teasers.

And now come the continuity haters.

It has nothing to do with "hating" continuity, it has to do with the simple fact that comic books and movies are different media. The traditional bright spandex suits are made for the comic book page and work as art, but they´ll never look as good on live-action, so are adapted to work for that media. It´s been made with all recent superhero movies, will continue to be made, and needs to be made for the film to work, but some people just never get it. Sure some adaptations work better than others, but this one is a far closer one than a lot of these costumes.

Plus, people forget that in current comics GL doesn´t really wear a spandex - or fabric, exactly - suit, it´s created by the ring and presumably made of energy resembling a solid form.

Remember that first cover of Ironman 2 with Downey in the Mark IV without his helmet, and Scarlett and Vanko on his two sides? The suit looked plastic and Ironman looked tiny the way they had put the page together. But then you watch the film and Ironman looks metallic and he is freaking huge and bulky compared to Pepper or anyone else standing next to him.

So i think that we shouldnt judge the suit just yet. FFS the mask looks photoshopped on his face and we dont know how the suit will morph and glow on him. It could be pretty spectacular in live action. When Ironman is sporting that amazing suit of his and Batman has a flying car, Green Lantern cant go out wearing a simple spandex/leather suit.

Are you crazy???? A green spandex suit with white gloves and boots would look much better!

:whatever:

Yeah, right. This is the reason why they are going with CGI. It it very difficult to show the type of sinew that is portrayed in the comics with spandex.

what this guy said is fact.

agree.

This is a movie, not a comic book. There is no continuity yet.

What works as a drawing does not work on a real person. Even with Ryan's sick body a spandex suit will look like the Green Power Ranger.

I think a CGI costume is the only way to go for a Green Lantern movie but thay should have made it look like Green Lantern.

Maybe we will see a Green Lantern costume years from now in a reboot

^exactly. One would expect fans would be a little more experienced and patient about these things by now. Oh well.

This post is just loaded with common sense.

Gosh darn it - a picture really does paint a thousand words :hehe:.

Cue the all too customary and obvious ''Yeah, but a movie studio would use a better quality spandex'' retort in response................................

Now they come, the pijama lovers!!!

The movie suit IMO looks great. Great translation from comic to movie

Pijama lovers, JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA, I am getting a stomach ache.
Seriously, the suit looks pretty cool, transition looks great. For all haters out there, just wait to see Ryan Reynolds in a context fliying around a city sorrounded by green energy.

wish there was more white, but the suit looks good overall.

will probably look better on screen than in print.

I wonder why haven't they show Kilowog, who is playing him and the final design of his suit, now that would be awesome
Well if it anything like the way thay have Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern Kilowog will be unrecognisable :csad:
