I wish they gave everyone Sinestro's outfit. I also wish they would have ditched the mask or used a real one and modified it with CGI. No matter how I look at it, it looks like a cheap photoshop on his face.

It still looked real to me. I have no problem at all with special effects in this movie. Everything looked great, especially in 3D.

I thought the suit looked just fine as far as looking real is concerned. The mask had a few problem spots here and there, but on the whole, I thought it was fine too. There were however a few obvious mattes. The outer space scenes in particular had a very Star Wars prequel, we're-standing-in-front-of-blue-screens look. Kilowag, and to a lesser extent, Tomar-Re, just didn't impress either. I already mentioned in the review thread the rubber lips on the Guardians. They should have communicated psychically or something. After getting Gollum, Davey Jones, Kong, and the Navi, the bar has been raised much higher for CG character work.

I agree. Hollywood needs to get over with it's obsession with doing everything purely with CGI. The best result is with a combination of practical and special effects.

your argument is that the mask is like a second skin right? did you ever see what kind of skin masks Rick Baker and Stan WInston did in the last 20 -30 years? the 100% same green mask could be done as a layer on reynolds skin. even the part around the eyes . Baker and Winston studio could even make it look like the mask and skin are blured together. then Sony would add those green energy lighting on top of it. it would be cheaper then the CGI mask. fact. i know my facts.


so f.... again. its not CGI because it couldnt be made practical. its CGI because WB and DC wanted to be able to change the mask in post production if they didnt like it. this is of course throwing money out of the window. there comes a time when you say '' this is the final design''.

This costume looked horrible on the big screen, even in 3D.

It looked completely laughable. The first scene when Ryan appeared in it was so jarring.

The design was great, but the execution was poor. The CGI looked painted on, as did the neck collar and the mask.


This was definitely a costume that needed to be physical, instead of drawn on like a cartoony skin. Probably one of the worst superhero costumes onscreen of this decade.
