Nipples, Nipples, Nipples, Nipples, Nipples, Nipples, Nipples Nipples..
Actually, when you put them in context with his obsession about all that old Egyptian stuff, it seems logical they had nipples on statues and battle armor so yeah, its logical.

I like the Comedians mask, there are very few ways you could make that mask work on the screen without it looking cheesy.

Wow. :wow: I'm really pleased with how they turned out. Watchmen is my favorite comic of all time and I have some trepidation towards how the film will turn out but this is cool.
I don't love the Comedian's eye mask. It's a bit Robin from the Schumaker films. (Sorry) And Ozy doesn't bug me as long as the public refrains from mentioning the nipples constantly.

The thing is though, the nipples fit on Ozy. Hell, Shumacer stated the reason he put nipples on Batman and Robin was in reference to look like ancient Greek/Roman/Egyptian breastplates. Makes sense Ozy would have the same.

Also, I think the color is off on Ozy's pic. Like, the color in the whole image. It's hard to tell what it'll really look like.

Btw, Comedian looks the best. The actor, the costume, and pose, it's all amazing. It's the freakin' Comedian.

As you can see, if they had gone with closer to the original design, it would have been better!
That does not look better. It looks much worse

Hey, you guys are preaching to the choir. I'm just saying that if my wife flips past E! News and I hear some guy say "blah, blah, nipples on some new superhero movie" I just might lose it. The comment Tilda Swinton made to George Clooney during the oscars about when he wore rubber nipples brought back bad memories.

I like the costume Silke Spectre gave me a *****

Good thing they made Night OWL's goggles SQUARES!!!!!!

What is wrong with you people? These costumes are absolutely hideous. It's one thing going ahead making a movie of Alan Moore's baby without his consent, but now they've done so and have bastardized the characters visually in the process too.

This is the equivalent to Michael Bay making everything in Transformers more "badass" because he didn't think what was truly classic about those characters was adequately AWESOME enough

Comedian is perfect. Could not have asked for anything more. As is Rosarch. To be honest I don't care about the rest of the cast. Nite Owl always bored me.

I don't mind Ozzy's.

I really don't like Ozy's costume. Apart from the nipples, they removed all th fold and the tunic that made it so unique.
And why isn't NiteOwl wearing a pouch belt?
Where does he keep the remote control for Archie?
The Comedian and Rorschac are perfect instead.
I would like so much to see the old Kym Barret design for the costumes.

Alright...

I know, I'm a minority in that department but he annoyed the hell outta me. I kept wanting the story to get back to Rorsarch, he's the most interesting character along with Ozzy and Comedian.

Okay...but if it weren't for Dan's (and Hollis') story the understanding of the vigilantes' motivations wouldn't have been nearly as clear - Dan's character expounded on the things that Hollis said in his book and gave a deeper glimpse into the mind of these people. While the others are interesting, I found the Nite Owl I & II to be more interesting than the Comedian - his motivation was fairly straightforward.

I understand that they are integeral to the plot of course. Maybe it's because I last read Watchmen when I was an impatient young teen (Think I was around 14). Might give it another read through. Who knows, Nite Owl could evolve into my favorite character.

It wouldn't hurt to read it again :cwink: I'm reading it for the second time in a row :O

Battousai, Noir, you guys are real class acts

The outer rims smallest violin made me spit my coffee out.

:woot:

So just because I feel that lackluster costumes, an OC-grade cast, and the notion that an incredibly dense piece of literature can be condensed into 2 hours is going to make an absolute dog**** movie, makes me a dumbass?

Solid 8/10

Its really hard to pull of the light costumes in a dark story but the team of desingers seemed to have pulled it off and it works in this story/universe.

OZYMANDIAS
I simply CANNOT believe how perfect these designs are. Even Ozy, the farthest depature from the book remains essentuially faithful and effective (in portraying his character and attributes), but going further it also plays on the standard superhero tropes that normal audiences are accustomed to. Which is what Watchmen is basically all about; turning the meaning of a 'superhero' on its head. The cape, muscle suit, underwear, emblem - it's all looks SAFE and standard, except in this case we'll come to find out he's actually a 'villain' with a morally ambigious plot .

It's interesting because they could have gone all-out Egyptian style for Ozy by emphasising the 'pharaoah' or antiquity elements of his costume... which is truthfully what i expected...and this would've been more superficially accurate to his original design than what we've ended up with. However by choosing to emphasise the 'superhero' symbolism Synder & Co have demonstrated a deeper understanding what the book is about- they're beyond being confined to an original visualisation, a visualistion that was intended for a different medium and a vastly different audience.

SILK SPECTRE
Sally Jupiiter is a perfect compromise of modern cinema fashion and costume funtionailty with the spirit of her original character design. She looks sexy, risque and only slighty 'humiliating' as Sally often complains in the book. My only quibble is she doesn't look that 1980's at all - which I thought would be kinda fun, using the fashion from the time to humorous effect. She may be too much Kill Bill instead of ....um, A-Team. *tries to think of an iconic 80's action heroine and fails*

NITE-OWL
Overall I'm genuinely amazed at how the Watchmen costumes are turning out. FAR BEYOND expectations, and for Nite-Owl in particular! I really thought they could screw him up the most - if anyone it would be poor ol Dan Dreiberg that's hardest to visualise for film. But no...he looks scary, techy AND YET slightly goofy at the same time. as well as believalbe and not too mention 100% comic accurate, that's always nice :yay:.

I couldn't have asked for better designs... now bring on Dr. Manhattens wang. I want the wrinkles thickness and glow to be just right!":D

These costumes are absolutely hideous. ..... bastardized the characters visually in the process too.

I can usually sympathise with oppossing viewpoints but I'm genuinly at a loss to understand what exactly you're talking about here. What is bastardised? How are they different from the spirit of the characters? Who is the most hideous? I hope you don't say The Comedian because he, of all of them is both 110% faithful and yet competely badarse looking. A rare example of an original 2D design translating into tangible real life without becoming stupid or cheesy. The only other example of this is Spidermans costume I suspect.

Lackluster Costumes: Okay, Mr.Clay show me how the costumes could be in a way that will be 100% truthful and not look down right stupid on screen.
OC-grade Cast: Heh. Have you seen the cast? They're all (with the except of Silk Spectre) great actors and actresses.
2 Hours: When did we get an official announcement that it was 2 Hours? The last script written was somewhere in the 3 hour mark. Also, the comic itself could be portrayed as is (without the Under The Hood and Black Freighter) in roughly 2.5 hrs to 3 hrs.

Check your facts. Have hope. and stop being a dumb-ass.

Comedian, Rorshach and Silk Spectre look perfect. Nite Owl, I remember him in the book looking less "cool", he made me think of Adam West´s Batman, he had a belly and everything. The problem with Ozymandias to me is not so much the costume, but Mathew Goode really doesn´t quite look the part to me. When I remember Jude Law wanted to play him, it´s heartbreaking.
