I totally dig the costumes. Especially Silk Specter. She looks sexy as hell.

Nite owl has really grown on me. I think it could work well.
Im still a little so-so about Ozy

Okay, now that I have finally seen Dr. Manhattan and the rest of The Watchmen in motion, I'm gonna chime in.

Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan, and Comedian are perfect. Wouldn't change a thing. 10/10, respectively.

For the most part, I am perfectly satisfied with Nite Owl. However, I really wish that the cowl was modelled more closely after the design in the graphic novel (round goggles, exposed nose, horizontal head/"horns", and head dress). I would like the cape to come together at the front, but I understand if that would've been too restricting. As for the rest of the suit, I'm actually very happy with it. The story takes place in an alternate reality, so it's not much of a stretch that this seemingly techy suit could exist in the 80's. It's corny, overly designed, and it's very satirical of superhero costumes in modern day movies (whether that's intentional or not). Overall, 9/10.

Honestly, I wish Silk Spectre's outfit was a carbon copy of the graphic novel design, simply because it's so simple in nature, and easily adaptable. A skimpy, black underlayer. A yellow, silk overlayer. Sexy, simple, and faithful. Still, the suit they gave us keeps the basic look, and it's certainly a nice alternative. Overall, 9/10.

Much like Silk Spectre, for Ozymandias I would've preferred the look of the graphic novel. Royal, purple and golden cloaks. I do however, appreciate the direction Snyder went with (the ancient, Greek armor with sculpted musculature and nipples). Still, the colors are a bit too dark for me, given how vibrant I've always pictured the character. Not a bad design, but it could've been brightened up and stuck with the purple/gold palette. Overall, 8/10.

So, combining the characters together, we have an overall costume design rank of 56/60. That's an A- right there. Perfectly acceptable.

^^ You just wanted Silk Spectre to be showing major cleavage, like in the graphic novel. Hehe, me too.

I love them all, except Ozy. I give the style 10/10, but the color 3/10. Ozy looks evil, and that is just wrong... he should look heroic. This is the only thing that is still bugging me about the costumes and sets.

Ozymandias doesn't so much look evil as he looks "goth". Which makes sense, given his obsession with certain cultures and their obsession with death.

I'm starting to wonder if Veidt doesn't have multiple costumes...

Ozymandias- Sure it is different but it seems to work, I like a lot. The mask is the only thing I am worried about
Silk Spectre- Wow, hot! It works well and really resembles the comics.
Rorschach- Perfect. The ink blots look perfect and flow well. Clothes are just like the comic.
The Comedian- I was convinced he would be perfect judging from the first picture of him. The trailer just proved that even more.
Dr. Manhattan- I was a little worried about how he would look and judging from the trailers, he is amazingly well done. He probably isnt even done yet.
Nite Owl- One of the bigger costume changes but the suit looks great in action.

Overall all the costumes are perfect for the movie and remain pretty loyal.

I think Nite Owl's is the best. The rest are alright. They should have been more faithful to the comic, but hey, that's Hollywood for ya.

...how could Rorschach and the Comedian's outfits be more faithful? And don't blame Hollywood for the suit changes. They were a creative choice. If this really was Hollywood's Watchmen everything would be very, very different. It wouldn't make much sense to adapt the costumes exactly how they were in the comics. This movie has to comment on modern superhero films just like the comic commented and deconstructed superhero comics. You must use the medium, which is in this case film, to it’s full potential.

Comedian's hair isn't comic faithful. He was more "slicked back" in the books. It's not a deal breaker for me, though. Rorschach is pretty spot-on.

Actually Blake's hair looks more like the GN in his later years.

And of course...

But yeah, they shoulda just sticked with it during the whole movie. It's a more nasty look...

Not really feeling that wig in the bottom pic, but I'll live. Just don't know why they felt the need to use one??

I like your break down on this. I agree 100% with Dr. Manhattan, Rorschach and the Comedian being pretty much spot on.

Silk Spectre and Ozymandias I can take because I want the Silk to look beautiful yet tough and I want Ozymandias to look regal yet a little over the top, like a Robert Redford superhero.

I'm just not that into Nite Owl. He looks pretty badass. I don't know if that's good or bad but it seems like they could have toned him down a little bit. I wonder if they tried the hooded cowl look with beady eye goggles and it just looked bad. I am really excited for this film.

Nite Owl should be more out of shape. Unless that's an earlier Dan Dreiberg. Otherwise he's an aging ex-super hero out of his prime.

I actually like the idea of him using the suit to look badass. He obviously looks tubby in the pics we have seen of him out of costume. I think the idea that he hides behind the costume to make himself feel in shape fits with the character very well.

When have we seen him out of the costume?

And yeah I agree, it would fit with the character very well

That's my problem with Nite Owl in this movie. He looks too "cool". If he's out of a bit vhubby out of costume in this movie then hurrah! If there's a pick of this then please provide a path.

One of the video journals shows him and Laurie walking away from the camera. Dan is very much overweight, as he is in the book.
