Marvel announced that they are developing an AVENGERS movie. I don't know much about the Avengers, but I'd assume that this would bring, Captain America, Thor, Antman, Wasp, Iron man, and probably Scarlett Witch and the Hulk. That's a nice roster.

My question:
Do you think DC will wait until after this movie is released and judge by it's success or lack there of if it is the right time to make a Justice League film?

OR-

Do you think that DC will look at this as pressure to push a Justice League film out as soon as possible?

My thought- I want a Justice League film (starring Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter) to come out after ATLEAST three Batman films, three Superman films and one Flash film and one Wonder Woman film.

What's your thoughts?
Will they rush it into production? Or play it slow?

I was surprised to learn that Zak Penn is writing an Avengers movie. When is it slated to be released ? And won't an Avengers movie cost like a gazzilion dollars if they're going to include The Hulk, Iron Man etc ?

well, if they make a Justice League movie in the same universe as Superman Returns and Batman Begins, i doubt it will happen. Especially if these Green Lantern rumors are true. Bale, Routh, whoever's playing Wonder Woman and....Jack Black?

a Justice League movie would be great though. WB should ignore pressure if there is any. Let Marvel release their Avengers movie. WB can take their time, and when a JL film comes out, it'll be great, and a nice way of saying "Owned" with a big smile.

but if anything though, WB still has their chance to own Marvel in terms of swamp monsters. WB should really work on getting a damn good Swamp Thing film to the screen, especially after Marvel failed horribly with Man-Thing.

Yes Marvel's saturation bombing of the market with their properties definitely makes DC have to play catch or face the possibility of being overshadowed.

I think a JLA Movie would actually be more than a Avengers Movie. Just me though.

I'm kind of hoping Bryan Singer was fired and we'd get a good superman movie first b4 they did JL :(

i've always thought that if Marvel seriously develops The Avengers Movie it will definitely push DC to get the JL movie on track. looking in hindsight with how the SR and BB folks have talked about the possibility of a Batman-Superman tandem, TPTB @ DC probably knew how serious the Marvel folks were with the Avengers movie. i didnt really believe it myself because the costs would've been forbidding, but if Marvel gets The Avengers into production, you can bet the farm that DC wont be far behind. i've said this before, but i couldnt shake the feeling that the current Batman and Superman franchises would be getting 2 solo movies apiece then cap their third with a joint movie together.

I was just about to make a thread on this. What it all comes down to is money. I do believe that DC will make a JLA movie depending on how successful the Avengers movie does. However, I don't see WB casting Bale or Routh or whoever else linked with a DC icon in the film.Simular to Blade the series for example, I imagine they'll use a different cast than before.

This way, maybe the can find a writer and director who's vision of each member can fit in one universe. This seems to be the main debate on a World's Finest movie-can Nolan's more or less real world Batman exsist in Singer/Donnor's more fantasy based Superman's world?

If a JLA movie is made, I imagine the core team may be scaled down to about 5 members-Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, the Flash,Green Lantern and most likely the Martian Manhunter or Aquaman. The threat would probably be the White Martians or Amazo. For the first film, the Injustice Gang or the Leigon of Doom just might be too much.

Lord, no JLA movie, not anytime soon, anyways.

How are they going to pull off The Avengers? I mean wow, it's gonna cost a fortune....I guess it will come down to what avengers they end up using in the movie. But there's a bunch of complications with doing a film like this.

As cool as it could be... I honestly can't see a JLA film ever happening, save for in the realm of animation.

The serious actors they have for Batman and Superman alone would be unlikely to take the idea seriously. As for screen-time and budgets, it'd be like the 'X3' issues magnified!

I think the logistics of a Superman/Batman film will be complicated enough. Besides, hasn't it been widely reported that the studios don't see the point of putting so many classic characters together in one film if they can make more money by spreading them out as individual tentpoles?

I mean... JLA on its own would be lucky to make twice the box office gross of one Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash or Green Lantern film. The Avengers is lucky in that none of the characters have quite the same following and it's actually the Marvel studio choosing to do it... so the logistics are a little easier to figure out.

Seeing as how the avengers are made up of "B" list heroes(versus Iron tool mans team). I doubt it would force the wb to release a justice league movie. The wb cant just go hey lets make a jl movie. They have to go through a lot of run arounds just get big blue cape on.

I would wager, an Avengers movie is along way down the line, Marvel's making Iron Man for 2008, Hulk for 2008 and Captain America and Thor for 2009, they will need to establish these franchises, plus there's a good chance of sequels for Iron man and Hulk around 2010.
Marvel will have a easier time making a Avengers film, with all those before mentioned properties belonging to Marvel and not owned by different studios, I can't speak for DC characters and what studios they are at, and how easy or difficult it would be to bring them together for a JLA movie, they only have at this point 2 characters Batman and Superman that have actually gotten off the ground into movies, the rest seem to be in limbo right now.

Nope. Marvel's flooded the market with superhero movies, while DC is doing one a year. Marvel's gonna end up exhausting its supply.

once Marvel has figured out how to crunch the numbers on that, then DC will adapt that for JLA.

A quick way to cut down cost on the Avengers movie would be to simply have the Hulk stay as the Hulk and have Iron man never remove his helmet. This way they don´t have to pay the actors who played Banner and Stark in each of those characters movies. I´m of course assuming that Eric Bana and who ever plays Tony would demand a lot of money.

For a JLA movie you can´t really pull this off since all the characters faces are visible.

Too soon to talk JLA. Before that, I want a "Batman meets Superman" kind of movie first, and that's after putting out more solo Batman and Superman (hopefully!) movies. When they establish Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Aquaman movies, then we might see a Justice League film.

Why does everyone keep saying an Avengers movie would cost so much?

With five or six core members and one villain, there will probably be far less "super-beings" appearing in an Avengers movie than ANY of the X-Men movies, and say what you will about that franchise, but the fact remains that the X-Men movies have all done exceptionally well, proving that a "super-team" live action movie is indeed feasible.

I don't see the Hulk being in it. And I never really bought into the whole "Marvel/DC box office war" idea. WB will do with their properties as they see fit, regardless of what Marvel does.

Why do you think The Hulk will be left out ?

Particularly in his film incarnation, he's not really a superhero & doesn't belong.

Avi Arad said that in the next Hulk movie we would be seeing the more "super hero" like incarnation.

I'd rather he not be included; especially after Ultimate Avengers.

I stil don't see Hulk 2 making any more money than the first one. People are still tainted by Ang Lee's take. BTW, I like Ang Lee.
