Could Marvel be forcing DC's hand?

So while you liked the first film, you think the constant bashing it got-nay, GETS-would hurt any sequel they might make?
You may be right.

Hmmm...

With Captain America, Thor and Ironman as the tentpoles of coolness and popularity and Giant Man, Wasp and Vision as the team mainstays, I think the Avengers movie has a great chance of succeeding. I'm not sure Hulk has to be a team member at all...

That said, most of those costumes are pretty cheap, and the special effects are not very prohibitive. The only real terror is a full onslaught from Thor and a full featured barrage from Iron Man... other than that, it's as cheap as any other team flick would be... (Ala X-Men)

No sweat... I think Hulk had better be left out of the first one... or perhaps only hinted at at the end... maybe Banner had better just make a couple cameos, Hulk arises at the end "Avengers Assemble!!!" to christen the team and then the credits...

Oh... and DC doesn't have a hand... and Marvel's not 'forcing' anything out of the WB machine (they do have CW after all...)

My question:
Do you think DC will wait until after this movie is released and judge by it's success or lack there of if it is the right time to make a Justice League film?

OR-

Do you think that DC will look at this as pressure to push a Justice League film out as soon as possible?

It's not DC who can do anything but their owners in Time Warner. They have a stronger place in the market than Marvel and those they've licensed their characters to. So they're not worried at all. They can produce anytime they want, and still get money from other films like the successful Harry Potter.

Avengers movie is all-CGI.

No that has not been confirmed. However, it appears that it will be leaning towards a live action version, which is the way to go.

That wouldn't make sense anyway; there's already an animated Avengers movie. 2 in fact.

I wish Warner had the balls to make a Justice League movie. Or at least do a trinity movie with Supes (Routh/Welling), Bats (Bale) and Wonder Woman (Whoever they cast).

I want a Justice League movie. My fanboy dream would be to see the movie opening credits starting with the Big 7 slowly walking into view, to the same epic theme used in the Timmverse JL cartoon (the first 2 seasons, before JLU). The credits will proceed to each individual member, perhaps using a combination of their actual live action apearance and CGI. Kind of a mixture between the intros for the JL cartoon, the Spider-Man movie, and The Mask of Zorro.

That said, I don't want to see a JL movie any time soon, and I hope DC/WB doesn't rush one out under the mistaken impression that it has to keep up with Marvel. One of the biggest pitfalls with big epic teamups is that there's not enough time to go around, and a lot of characters are left shallow and undeveloped. The X-Men movies were basically Wolverine & the X-Men (although this probably shouldn't be completely excused as the side effect of doing a team movie).

WB should make sure that each of the Big 7, with the possible exception of Martian Manhunter, gets their own high-quality film out first. Superman, Batman, and maybe Wonder Woman should probably get individual sequels as well. A Superman/Batman movie could also be made to test the waters before proceeding with a bigger teamup. Then, when the JL movie finally comes out, J'onn could be introduced as the new outsider character who brings everyone together to combat the new big threat, which he's the most knowledgable about (using the White Martians storyline, or something similar to the cartoon premiere "Secret Origins"). The JL movie could put the main focus on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and J'onn, to avoid spreading itself too thin by trying to cover every character in the cast. However, just like the Bruce Timm cartoon, even the "lesser" characters would get their chance to shine in some really cool moments. In the JL sequel (if we ever get that far) a little more attention could be given to guys like the Flash or Green Lantern instead.

A focused storyline and development for all the characters must be balanced for the movie to work. That's why the WB really needs to take their time with this. I hope they don't make a JL movie for at least the next 5 or 6 years.

The WB has been in the film making business for over 100 years. I think they know a thing or two about risk taking. I think it is a good strategy they are taking lying in wait and seeing how the market is materializing while being cautious about the use of their comicbook properties on the silver screen. Marvel is taking a big risk by throwing all their eggs into one basket (saturating the market with their properties all at once).

Marvel announced that they are developing an AVENGERS movie. I don't know much about the Avengers, but I'd assume that this would bring, Captain America, Thor, Antman, Wasp, Iron man, and probably Scarlett Witch and the Hulk. That's a nice roster.

My question:

My thought- I want a Justice League film (starring Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter) to come out after ATLEAST three Batman films, three Superman films and one Flash film and one Wonder Woman film.

What's your thoughts?
Will they rush it into production? Or play it slow?

I would add one awsome Green Lantern Movie. And yes then the world might be ready for an JL movie. But will they cast Brandon Routh, Christian Bale and the other big Name actors? That would be the real thing. But a Worlds finest Movie would be more likely, or just the beginning of a Trilogy?

-Worlds Finest (Superman, Batman) Part one

-JLA (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman) Part two

-JLU (Maybe too many Superheroes?) Part Three

Marvel only has its properties to work with. Warner Bros. has others, including the very popular Harry Potter. If WB wishes they don't have to do another superhero film for another three to five years.
