I like a lot of the pulp comics and I got to thinking, though The Question was never actually in any pulp magazines, could he be considered a pulp hero? He closely resemble the style of old pulps like the Spirit and the Shadow. I looked up the definition of pulp and I got this: "A publication, such as a magazine or book, containing lurid subject matter." To me, this pretty accurately describes the Question. What do you think?

No. Pulp Fiction as a medium really doesn't apply to The Question at all (nor does it to The Spirit, he was always in comics), and as a genre it's far too general. Yes, elements of some of The Question's stories share similarities with elements in some of the old pulps, but pulp, as a genre, is more about an over all feel that The Question sometimes has, but isn't defined by. All in all, I'd say The Question's style is more specifically Crime Noir, which Pulp Fiction does encompass to a degree at times.

Pulp's not a genre, it's a format style. The Question was never published in that format.

for god sake man, why does everyone assume because a character wears a fedora & coat that they are pulpish

hell man, even the spirit or the green hornet isn't pulp guys like that are noirish

TAKE NOTE friend:
pulp characters: the Shadow, the avenger, doc savage, the phantom detective, the spider, Tarzan (yes tarzan was in the pulps), zorro (he was to), the black bat, mandrake the magician, SECRET SERVICE OPERATOR #5
