Craig Brewer to take on Tarzan

Hustle and Flow was good. BSM is just...weird to say the least. I dont know about him doing Tarzan. I like the Disney one lol.

I hope in this movie Tarzan runs around ****ing naked. There's so much gratious female nudity in everything, so how about some male bodyparts hanging for a change?

We 18-49 males are who Hollywood provides oral to every summer, so if we don't wanna see it, they won't do it. :p

I'm a Tarzan fan....still waiting to see a accurate production of the books.

From where they say in that article that "Warner Bros, which has been stymied in watching several attempts to relaunch the Edgar Rice Burroughs-created hero die on the vine, separately has screenwriter Adam Cozad working on a script that tells a different version of the man raised by apes in the jungles of Africa from infancy."....I'm not going to hold my breath while waiting to see how faithful this version will be.

Hey, women and gay guys combined outnumber all y'all! So bring on the erotic male nudity!!!

You know guys....if the discussion is going to devolve into this, I'll just shut it down now. let's try and have at least one thread that discusses something intelligently.

I think it would be cool if the entire movie took place in Africa with the only human being Tarzan surrounded by the wildlife.

From Hustle and Flow and Black Snake Moan to this? Don't sense some kind of pattern or anything, but hey.

Ach, Nolan went from Memento and Insomnia to Batman Begins. Haven't seen H&F, but I thought BSM was a very good film.

I haven't read any Tarzan literature, so am very interested to see what I am missing from that, as I love Greystoke, especially all the stuff that takes place in the Jungle.
I used to watch all the Johhny Weismuller movies when I was a kid, they would show them on tv during the summer holidays on tv, so when I went to see Greystoke at the pics, I was quite shocked at how realistic it was in comparison.
Now, if we got a new Tarzan movie that shocked me in a similar way with how 'realistic' it was, i would be very pleased.
and don't get me wrong, i mean, keep all the hyper-realistic stuff of the animals following him like a leader and stuff, but I mean keepin it realistic with all the brutality of life in the jungle like in 'Apocaplypto'.
I don't know about keeping Tarzan as the only human in the pic as suggested above, I'd like to see some folk from civilisation encountering him, and some tribes maybe, like they had in Greystoke, but just , y'know, with a different approach somehow.

But, I think I would like the whole movie to be set in the jungle for sure, that was my fav half of GS.
I'll have to get ahold of a ERB book at some point to see what I'm missing there.

I've been hoping a modern Tarzan film would work out somehow.

Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan had the right idea, but Christopher Lambert's "english" was terrible even for a man who had lived his hole life with apes. :D

Very excited for any Tarzan related news.

IMO Tarzan belongs in a "fantasy" realm, tho existing in our world at the turn of the twentieth century the franchise should be replete with lost kingdoms populated by extraordinary peoples and creatures. He just doesn't translate well to modern, real world environs. That's where the previous efforts have stumbled, and have largely failed to capture the magic of the character.

He did not live in a hole, you are thinking of that guy in the countryside who was brought up by rabbits, Harezan.

and his English must've been better than Andie McDowell's, cause all of her vocal performance was overdubbed another actress, she did not know about this until she watched the premiere. Have you seen her latest shampoo advert? she is a much better actress now.

afan: Aye, you're right it should be set in that time period, and it would be great to have some Conanesque fantasy elements in a film series.

I know you mean well, but I think you are over-reacting. We were just having a humorous little back and forth here; nobody was personally insulting anybody, nobody was posting bad pictures, nobody was using overly vulgar or graphic language.

I know you're a good guy, from my years on this forum, but it comes across as, to put it mildly, slightly unfair that you feel the need to crack down on this exchange when there's more than a few other threads where posters keep talking about sexy female actresses and what sort of situations they'd like to see them in. With photos and everything too. If you spent your time policing every posting and imposing the same standard for sexualized comments about women, you'd be passed out from exhaustion in under a day. ;)

I think it has more to do with america being uptight about nudity and body parts flapping around.

If you knew me as well as you state, then you would know that I crack down on the sexist misogynistic crude talk about women every day. And yes, if I spent my time policing EVERY posting on the Hype I would die from exhaustion....so I miss some...but when I see them, I say something about them.

Period piece FTW! I love the Disney movie. I really liked the old poetic feel of Peter Jackson's King Kong. Tarzan in a similar vibe would be great.

The guy who is playing Conan would be more fit to play Tarzan imo.

You'd really hear some **** from fanboys then. Greystoke is supposed to be a white british guy, so they won't exactly have a shortage of dudes for screen tests in that sense.
