Alan Keyes, a three-time presidential candidate, called President Obama a "radical communist" and a "usurper" and said with him in charge, America "is going to cease to exist" at a pro-life fundraiser Thursday.

"Obama is a radical communist and I think it is becoming clear. That is what I told people in Illinois and now everybody realizes it is coming true," said Keyes who ran unsuccessfully against Obama for the Senate in 2004. "He is going to destroy this country and we are either going to stop him or the United States of America is going to cease to exist," said Keyes.

In an interview in Hastings, Neb. with a KHAS reporter at the fundraiser, Keyes called Obama an "abomination" for some of his pro-choice views.

"The man is an abomination," Keyes said, going on to accuse Obama of being supportive of infanticide. "That is a man with such a seared conscience, I can't even understand why anyone in their right mind would consider him worthy of political support."

Keyes also claimed that Obama had no standing to be president. Keyes said Obama was actually born in Kenya and so did not meet the Constitutional presidency requirements of being a natural-born U.S. citizen.

He said Obama was a "usurper occupying the office without constitutional warrant."

"He has refused to provide proof that he is in fact a natural-born citizen," Keyes said. "I'm not even sure he is president of the United States."

When the reporter interviewing him apparently cracked a smile at this, Keyes angrily responded with "that is not a laughing matter. We're going to find ourselves in the midst of chaos, confusion and civil war."

Keyes is one of several people who have filed lawsuits challenging Obama's citizenship.

Despite his far-right views, Keyes was not adverse to joining Michael Moore's traveling mosh pit during the 2000 presidential campaign. Moore, a left-leaning documentarian who is often demonized by the right, promised Keyes that if he joined the mosh pit, he would receive his endorsement.

KHAS has more details here.

Btw, the link has a video where Keyes talks his crazy talk.

I dunno...but he sorta seems to be advocating...a revolution, I think. I dunno. What do you guys think?

The phrase "he must be stopped" is not a good one to be using in such a general way. Does he mean stopped politically or stopped period? He might want to clarify his comments rather than using such a general phrase or the Secret Service could be paying him a visit.

As for the birth certificate thing, it's truly one of the funniest political attacks I've ever heard. Apparently, the Hawaii newspaper from 1961 was in on the conspiracy, the state of Hawaii was in on it, and on and on...all before Obama ever became famous. Now what reason would those people have to be in on a conspiracy for a baby's citizenship? Obama's parents weren't considered important enough to receive special treatment on something like that. The attack on his citizenship is hilarious.

What bothered me the most, was his use of the armed forces, somehow claiming that our miltary men CAN and SHOULD revolt against our President.

I mean, hey...I hated Bush. But I honestly wouldn't go so far as wanting our armed forces turning against us.

And he says it as if it's a large portion of the armed forces that are demanding "do we really need to take order from Obama?".

I laughed. Until that part.

It's not a large portion. I hope it isn't. Although I really do wonder why the government allows Rush Limbaugh and his ilk on the Armed Forces network. That is paid for by taxpayers, not by Limbaugh. So why is his garbage being fed to the troops with our tax dollars?

I think he's making it up. I honestly think he's just blowing lies out of his ass. I mean, how can he even back that comment up?

Well there's some retired military guy who filed a lawsuit questioning Obama's citizenship. There's been quite a few of these lawsuits filed (by non-military people) with the Supreme Court and every one of them was DENIED a hearing outright. They wouldn't even hear what the petitioners wanted to say. Even Scalia has stepped up and outright denied hearing the cases.

The only thing that's insane is this man. :whatever:

So, only crazy Republicans are the only ones who get their own thread around here....lol

Just the latest in a long list of looney tune statements from Alan Keyes. This time he's really treading on dangerous ground though.

Nothing stopping you from starting one about a Democrat you think merits it as much as Palin, Keyes, etc. :cwink:

Yeah that one pretty much balances it out I guess....

I think Blago lives in an alternate world from everyone else. Seems like he has constantly contradicted what actually went on. "I was taken out of context!" Sure you were, Elvis. :hehe:

Pretty much what he said.

You find a Democrat saying crazy crap like Alan Keyes, Ann Coulter or Sarah Palin then you can knock yourself out making a thread about them. :oldrazz:

I hope Keyes will go out-of-control and the Secret Service paying him a nice visit in the near future.

Nah, that would be a waste of my time....I just laugh at them privately.

As to those saying/hoping the Secret Service pays him a visit. ARE YOU KIDDING?

Because he has said Obama isn't a citizen, is a communist, and is an abomination...?

Oh please, they have much more important things to take care of......*major eye roll*

Keyes is an idiot, and thats pretty much it....

Maybe this is all just the republicans trying to get back at the democrats for questioning Bush's legitimacy as president in his first few months in office. Tit-for-tat and such.

Or maybe its one guy just being an idiot....

It would be kind of funny if the CIA black bagged him :o

That's how I'd call it.

This guy is NOT your typical Republican. He is a FAR Right Wing Neo-Con and a nut.

The scary part is that he's not the only right wing neo-con nut out there and some may take this guy way too serious and try to "Save The Country From the Evil Fake President" and try to take Obama out.

This is a real concern I have with these people.:csad:
