Here's the idea:

I'm wanting to create a website for local artists/musicians/filmmakers/writers.

The idea is to have a website that houses information such as:

tutorials
links to portfolios
contacts
list of known clientele/employers
local actors/actresses/models
locations of gigs/art studios
a message board

I'm wanting this to be a hub of information for aspiring/struggling creative types in my area, where they can post their work, ask for help and find gigs.

Problem is, I'm web-illiterate. I can draw and animate, use art programs and all that to design the look of the site, but in terms of actually creating it, where to go, what to do, I have NO idea. Consider me completely ignorant, if you happen to reply.

ANY help or point in the right direction would be VERY appreciated, as I feel this is a worthy cause!

Thanks!

Well if you wanted to learn how to build a webpage from the ground up I would suggest starting by learning HTML, but if you need to get this done in a hurry and don't plan on doing web design on a regular basis in the future then you should just get a WYSIWYG web editor like DreamWeaver.

Edit: Since DreamWeaver isn't free I found this webpage with some freeware alternatives: Link

I haven't used any of those alternative programs though so I can't tell you if they're any good.
