DC Animation Creature Commandos - Animated Series

They have been planning and that leeway you're taking about lead to Clayface getting the greenlight. Let's actually see where things go these go, first before we sound the alarm bells.
we're comic fans. We dont wait to see where things go before forming sounding alarm bells.

Not really the best example considering Ant-Man clearly suffered for it and frankly sucked ass.
It's funny how you think you're making a point here when Ant-Man is well liked successful movie that did well with critics and audiences.

The finale was definitely underwhelming but I did mostly enjoy this for the solid animation and the break neck pacing although I do wish there were more episodes.

I'm at least interested in watching another season because I do like the character work in this especially seeing what Gunn did with Weasel.

The finale is the only episode where i'd agree with most of the complaints, unfortunately lol it was all over the place in its structure and revelations. I'll have to watch it again to get a better idea of it, but it's a weird one. Feels both overwritten and under-explored. Overall fine show.

One of the problems I have with Weasel is they give him the big moment of taking Circe down and then he's useless again. Doesnt do a thing that shows off his speed or strength.

I'm still confused how Weasel was able to take down Circe based on everything we've seen up to that point and after. Doesn't she have super strength and enhanced invulnerability?

Im going to assume that Gunn chose to power down CIrce while powering up Weasel.

Weasel couldn't even get out of a basement.

I’m confused why Waller put Nina on the Commandos in the first place. I don’t mean to speak ill of the recently departed, but Ms. Mazursky brought nothing to the table.

I’ve been a fan of Gunn’s previous comic book efforts, but I was disappointed by this show, and especially the finale.

They can only use non-humans, and Waller thought she would make good cannon fodder like Team A in The Suicide Squad?

Maybe I'm missing something but what did Gunn actually do with Weasel?
He just gave him a generic "looks like a monster but is actually harmless" backstory, the second he starts playing with those kids we know where it's gonna go, and then in present day his character is basically just a dog.

I loved the finale and fell in love with the show along the way. Episodes 1 and 2 were the weakest for me, but in retrospect, they set the tone correctly. I can't wait for season 2!

It's funny that you think that critical and audience reception are the only indicators of quality. Critics and the general audience get it wrong often.

Furthermore, the Edgar Wright version of Ant-Man would have likely been objectively better than the version we got. I don't think that's a particularly hot take. The version we got felt like a TV pilot made with a film's budget.

They did some decent character work this season, but I agree that the main plot was weak, and the stuff with the Princess was all over the place. The real win is that I wouldn't mind seeing these characters again. Hopefully, they stay distinct and don't end up like Drax, Nebula, and Mantis. There was a video where Gunn admitted he wasn't sure how to pronounce the name Khalis (and that he wasn't big on mummies), despite teasing him for the new team. We'll see how Gunn does with some much bigger characters next.

I finished it last night and yeah I agree, it's all over the place.

There are so many plotholes and when you think you might get some decent, emotional drama (i.e. Nina's backstory and the conflict her parents had about her physiology) Gunn falls on his own edgelord sword and ruins things with his over the top style.

You can set a watch to most of the episodes and it's just predictable and Gunn. That's the most I can say. I enjoyed the first few episodes, but post Weasel episode, I just had enough.

The way he introduced Batman in episode six was a highlight though.

I appreciated the series quite a bit for what it wants to be.
What some find as a problem is in my opinion a structural flaw: each episode focused on the background of a given character is redundant given the overall length of the series.
However, now that the characters have been introduced, it lays the foundations for a truly interesting second season.

I loved the animations and most of the characters, especially the Bride who I hope to see in live action as soon as possible.

Yep, completely agree with this. Story is a bit flat, but if the goal is to act as a gateway drug into this universe then I'm hooked. The characters he chose aren't ones I was really familiar with, but I really enjoyed them. Very much looking forward to a second season. I'm hoping that with the flashbacks out of the way, the next season can stay in the present a bit more and give us a more dynamic story.
