The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Critic bias towards this franchise?

This happens every time. When critics don't love a film, it becomes "hate the critics" time.

It is just too predictable. Every fandom thinks their film is special in this regard.

The funny thing is if this film was universally praised the fans moaning about the negative reviews now would be pointing to RT in defense of their opinions.

Have you taken the seat of the person who back ups the negative reviews and will talk and argue about how bad the movie is doing? i'm getting that from you today

anyway negativity is very infectious so people who liked the film start questioning their like for it and thats unfair on them and the movie, you could say Positivity is also infectious but probably less so because you are more likely to spread hate then like

are you in that catagory today of back up the negative reviews and say how bad the movie is doing? i'm getting that from you today

So by that logic all movie should have positive reviews at the fear os spreading negativity :P

Statistically there'll be some haters of superhero movies or non-MCU marvel movies but I imagine it'll be a small percentage.

Either way it's not like this movie is being trashed it's just not being praised left right and center.

It's still got a high rating and even if it drops it doesn't matter as plenty of great movie have low ratings.

CBM fans are hyprocrites ;)

lol true a lot are.

But i mean, Thor is my favourite Avenger. But i'll readily accept that The Dark World was mediocre. It's better to be honest with yourself than lie to yourself.

If you'll just blindly accept and like a film about your favourite character simply because it's a film about your favourite character isn't gonna help anyone. It won't give the film makers any motivation to improve.

OMG this 100% it's not like it has a 20% on RT, then I would understand your guys complaints. it has a 72. That isn't even that bad. Just because not everyone loves that movie, it doesn't mean their are haters.

hey is someone doesn't like it then fine, but its obviously a few bad reviews are not the be all and end all, i mean even though its spreading on this forum like this film is doing terrible and that everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves, thats even coming from the people who haven't seen it yet

But I genuinely love ASM2. I even viewed it a second time to see if I was being carried on a wave of 'Spidey'. Nope, still love the movie. That's why the bashing hurts.

Hey that's fine. I'm not talking about anyone in particular, at least not you. But it's something i've noticed since being here.

Yeah I can understand that. I loved IM3 and it got a lot of hate on the internet. But I don't know people calling the reviewers biased or calling them poor journalists Spider-man haters are kinda ridiculous. So you don't agree with their reviews. Also, I don't thin people should use reviews to form their opinion of a movie, they should see the movie themselves and form their own opinion.

I take the position that everyone has the right to have their opinion. Whether I agree or not. The same people crying foul, trash reviewers and their opinions are the same ones who then preach how all that matters is their opinion. It is so ironic.

If you this film, love it. Stop worrying.

The reason this franchise is getting bashed by some critics/ fans is because the Rami Spider Man films are still kinda fresh in a lot of people's minds. Then Amazing Spider Man comes and retreads everything we all seen in Rami's Spider Man 1. Then this movie is re doing the Peter/ Harry relationship and Green Goblin. So de ja vu is bound to happen. But I still excited to see ASM2 even though I thought the first film was meh/okay.

If this movie was something truly special then most people's supposed "bias" would be left at the door. If this movie was something truly special there would be no need for the fanbase to come up with excuses. Looks to me that this movie is generally getting what was put into it. It's not like the criticisms are little nitpicks here and there, there's some pretty heavy critiques going on and they're coming from almost everywhere in some way, shape or form. There's likely something there, it's just up to the individual in how much it bothers them. Me personally, I don't see any reason as to why this film can't be both faithful to the character and a great film in general. Those aren't mutually exclusive (unless you think Spider-Man is a poorly written character).

Yep, and I think that might be the disconnect here. Many fear the film not being "special" because if it was, why would there be a mixed reaction from the critics? Take it out on the critics.

How to identify whether a critic is "biased" -

If a critic

* Brings up constant comparisons with earlier incarnations of the same franchise.

* If he finds the very concept of the said superhero (not it's execution) questionable.

* If he complains about things like "too much CGI" in a movie which depends on CGI.

* If he dismisses the movie as a "cash grab" (all comic book movies are made to earn cash)

* If he dismisses the movie because he thinks it was made to "Keep the rights" (which is something unrelated to the quality of the movie)

How does any of this translate to being biased? These are all perfectly legitimate criticisms of a movie. Even the last two, while not criticisms in and of themselves, are more like shorthand descriptions for films that are sloppily made.

My take on the "special hate" that this franchise gets:
Aside from the quality of the movies,i think that Sony rebooting it so soon might afected some viewers opinion, the first trilogy was still fresh in the minds of many and seeing how something that many "hold deer" is "replaced" with something that is not what they liked the instant reaction is "reboot hate" even if they havn´t seen the movie, especially if the reboot is so early and they go to the movies expecting not to like it, because ,again, is not like the previous franchise.

Now the thing with TASM is that the goal of this franchise were just to keep the rights,so they rushed everything and the result imho was good, but left many unsatisfied with the plot threads left for future movies, plot holes, etc. then the Avengers came and every studio wanted that success, so sony ditched the tone and plans for the future and tried to "build an universe" and shot themselves in the foot by establishing a big universe in just ONE movie and doing plans without knowing how they are doing with said franchise, for me TASM2 is good and i like it more with more viewings, but i can see where people would hate it.

The people who didn´t like TASM maybe won´t like this because the foundation is build on is not of their liking and many have the"too many villains" worry which is perfectly valid, but is really that this movie has many things going on in the plot that it looses it strenght and THAT is a big problem, i would much rather see a small film with a good script than a big movie with an average script.

No critics are not bias to this franchise. They are simply reviewing the movie.
