Crysis headed to the PS3?

Even before the PC version released, rumours of a PS3 conversion of the stunning Crysis (developed by Far Cry creators Crytek) were rife, and not far off the mark if insiders at the studio are to be believed. The game looks to be a port of the PC original plus some extra modes and features, a kind of Crysis 1.5. Like the PC game you can expect a visual powerhouse; an open-world shooter that begins on a beautiful tropical island before things take a turn for the worse and aliens from a parallel world stake a claim on Earth. Only the mighty Killzone 2 could possibly hold a candle to this shooter. For technical reasons we hear an Xbox 360 version of Crysis isn’t in development. Bet you’re glad you bought a PS3 now, eh?

I watched x-play yesterday and they were talking to some PS3 executive or someone in the know. He was listing games slated for this year and I swear he said crysis among other things in his list. I could be wrong, but I really wish I could see that again because he said crysis or something very similar. But I still don't believe the rumor even though it would be great. I'm just wondering if I heard right or not.

Crysis wasn't pretty bad at all. It was a good game, just the amazing graphics dwarfed the rest of the game, because while the visuals are a step (or few) above current gen consoles, the game play, while still great, hadn't seen the same progression. Not to say it was badm it just wasn't the next big leap for FPS'.

And that´s the real problem right there, piracy on the PC.
The PC gaming will never die, that´s a given because everyone has a PC and not everyone has or wants to have a console.
PC games are here since the dawn of time...ok, it was a little sooner than that

The thing is, before, there was a huge diference between PC games and Console games, now, that diference is almost gone, being strategy games the only ones PC only (but even those, the 360 is getting a lot of RTS).
Also, there is a huge and crazy infatuation with consoles since last generation.
And piracy doesn´t help either.

I believe that, in the future, when PC gaming changes a bit, it will return to it´s full glory

I think most PC gaming is very casual. Games like The Sims and WoW are the biggest large-budget games, with everything else being simple puzzle games like Peggle and Puzzle Quest.

Heck, GFW Radio only talks about Half-Life 2 and puzzle games anymore.

That i agree, not because the PC is not capable, but because now, more than ever, PC vs Consoles (diferent kind of games )is a thing of the past, which means that, gaming is gaming, whatever the platform.
But i believe that the infatuation with consoles is going to fade the sooner has PC gaming gets back on track, and there will be a place fo everyone again, returning to the gaming is gaming, whatever the platform.
But, no, it will not return to it´s former glory, because there are other gaming platforms too and there are no exclusive PC genre games anymore, the gaming word has changed.

and I think one of the reasons why we are seeing less of a difference between PC/Console games is bc of piracy. The publishers arent making as much money anymore bc of it so they create these same games for consoles to make up for that. Look how many FPS games have flooded the market, when before that used to be rare. Theres piracy on the consoles, but its alot harder to do than on the PC nad develoeprs know that, hence why there are so many simultaneous PC/console releaseas

IMO, the problem is not that there are a lot of FPS in consoles, but that some well known console genres are dying...quickly.
For example, platform games, and i mean really platform games, not action adventure in the likes of Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter.
Besides Mario and Crash Bandicoot, i can´t think of any other.
I just hope Banjo 3 can make platform games big again.

About games that started on the PC, i like my console FPS, but i don´t like RTS on consoles.
I read great reviews on Battle for Middle-Eath 2 and Command & Conquer 3 on the 360, but i will play them on the PC always.
The only one i see myself getting for the 360 is Halo Wars, but that if the PC version takes too long to be released (PC version is a given, and i´ve read that they will be release at the same time).

Those two parts really make the rumor sound bogus. If the Playstation 3 can do it the Xbox 360 can too. It's not like the Playstation 3 is THAT far advanced.

that's not the first PS3 screen shot...that's a screen shot from the PC version, I've seen it many times before. Further more, it doesn't even say "here's the first screen shot from the PS3 build", so I have no idea where you came up with that.
