Hi gang,

Everyone has their own opinions and such. I have my own. Thank for the feedback. I personally really like my suit because it is unique. I love the cape and the way it attaches as well as the symbol on the chest.

WOW! Awesome Travis! As long as you like it that's all that matters. Looks great dude!

Thanks. I must say that out of all the screen Supermen, Chris Reeve had by far the best costume.

Here is a pic taken today.

Brother you re the green lantern! send your CV :woot::gl:

Cute kid. Kid, tell your dad he's NOT Superman. He's a dead ringer for John Stewart, although I prefer the military cut on John over the overused bald/w gotee Black dude look.

Does anybody know where I can find a pattern or template or something to help me with making my cape

cheers

Some very nice costumes here. I hope this Halloween provides us with an opportunity to see more.

Greetings all. Might any of you know if I purchase these...

...would I be able to paint them (burgandy/maroon) to match my cape and trunks? They are vinyl so I am guessing so. There is Spirit shop at the mall so I plan to go there and ask them what they think and maybe bring them to Michael's (crafts shop) as well to see what info I can get. Halloween is going to be here before I know it :wow:

Thanks ever so much for any info

peace

It's been a while since I have been on the board. Had to reregister and
everything.
Anyhoo, I came back to get more information on doing my own sr
costume. I just purchased some milliskin fabric online (pretty inexpensive),
and I have molding materials to construct my symbol.
Bought one from ba but seeing that I am 5 7 it's a bit too big. I have to
construct one more to my size.
I read in an earlier post that someone has a method to making an authentic type cape. If anyone has that infor I would love to have it.
The only other problem I see is making some accurate boots. That is why
I am takling that after the insignia and belt. The jumpsuit is easy enough to do. I would REALLY like to have something for halloween this year.

I think this might be what youare looking for supermanrtns31.

JBrown437 Thanks very much for the info. Where would I be able to find this dulpicator vinyl spray? I tried to look it up on line and I came up with automotive type stuff. Would krylon spray work as well?

peace

Wow! That's great stuff. I have already put that in my favorites
section.
Thanks dr.:yay:

I like how you used the "Superman Lives" S design. I have always loved that version.

you are very welcome. people were there to answer my questions...just passing it on.
yesterday I bought my boots. the Spirit website has them listed as $34 but were on sale for $20. I called ahead to ask if they had them, they did and held them for me. the girl I spoke with was wicked cool. when I got to the store she went above and beyond! gave me all kinds of tips and pointers for the boots (avoid spray paint, use a sponge brush, get an insert so the boots are a firm shape...told me about a place in the mall that can print/silk screen the \S/ on the suit and cape). the manger was at the register and I told her how awesome my instore experience was. having worked in retail I know how nice (and rare) it is to hear positve things about your staff/store as opposed to complaints from *****y/stupid people =^)

duplicolor vinyl and fabric spray is commonly sold in automotive stores because that's what it is primarily used for, however it also works on vinyl/leather boots. Krylon wouldn't work you need to use a vinyl spray paint.

JBrown I thank you so very much. I will check out where I can get some (autozone/pep boys...) work will be slow today and my chef is off, so I can play on the computer and do a little research.

So...I bought the boots. Got the paint from Autozone. Painted my boots (OMFG they look WICKED AWESOME!!! (thank you JBrown!) Made some calls (from info the sales girl gave me) and my suit and cape is with some guy form a kiosk at the Fl Mall...having the logos airbrushed on. The artist was way cool and LOVED Superman (and comics in general).

Sooo...I have absolutely no doubt that my suit (though not totally "made" by me) will be great.

...now if only I could find a Christopher Reeve style belt...

it's Reeve... not Reeves.

Heh! That the problem when you have 2 different actor portray the same iconic character & their last name spell very close, but with 1 more letter on the other. Long time ago before I pay attention to Reeves's last name, I thought he might be Reeve's uncle or father or whatever.

um...ok. scuze me. I meant as possesive...I guess I will have to be more mindful of my poor typing skills.

I don't think typing skills is poor. It just you made a little mistake with the last name spelling. Sometime I get that way too. It's common, really. ;)

And kak has no problem with you. He just pointing out the little mistake. He's ok in my book. :word:
