Cutting Away The Filler Of The Heroes Cast

Another thing "this thread" doesn't "get" is that you can remove a character without killing them. Like with Maya. You don't have to depower them either, you can just send them off somewhere and bring them back when they'll be useful.

Thank you! Don't kill them off, just wrap their stories up and get them out for the time being.

Yep. Meredith was another great example. Send her off, then bring her back when you need her.

Keep
Sylar - replaces Peter
HRG
Elle - replaces Claire as hot blonde
Knox
Hiro/Ando
Meredith
Micah

Recurring
Peter
Nathan
Daphne
Arthur
Angela
Flint
Doyle

Kill
Claire
Tracy
Mohinder
Matt

If several characters have to go to make Heroes better, similar to S1, then I don't have a problem with most of the characters going. Although, i may be initially mad if HRG is gone. :o

Keep
Claire
Noah
Mohinder
Micah and Monica(kill their family but have them recruited by a company)
Peter
Angela
DL

get a new villain or a villain group that is dangerous to the world

Kill
Elle-( love her but dont see her having much use past the second half of season 4
Matt
Daphne
Nikki, Tracy, and Barabara
Ando
Maya
Adam
Sylar
Nathan

 DL is already dead and you want to keep him. And you mentioned Ando, but you leave out Hiro in either list? I don't think its necessary to list Maya, Nikki and Adam since it appears they would not show up in the show anymore, especially Adam :cwink:.

I'm thrown by all the people wanting to get rid of all the female characters except Claire. We're already sorely lacking in the female lead character department. This show is too male dominated as it is, and I think that's why is suffers in the female viewer department.

Other then Maya, I think the female characters are the most dynamic and interesting of the show. If there has to be mass a exodus, it needs come from the male characters.

It would be hard for me to let Meredith, Elle, Sandra, and Daphne go after this season. They have been nothing short of spectacular characters.

I would be crushed if they let Ali Larter go seeing as she's one of the best actresses on this show.

And that is exactly the atitude the shows producers have

Lets face it the show has too many characters. That’s a fact. Too many regulars and guest starts...So my choices for the chopping block would be...

Keeps:
Peter - He is the lead character. The writers just need to develop him more towards the bitter future versions we keep seeing

Claire - I hear the naysayers but she could really develop as a character if HRG was killed off.

Nathan - The only reason, the only way Nathan should be kept is for him to take over the company from Anglia. That would give him some kind of role within the Heroes universe.

Matt - They showed a hint at the darkness his character has in season 2 but instead this season they have wasted that all on some random happy family arc. Get back to exploring the darkside of the character

Hiro - The writers need to let go of the notion that Hiro is still the same childlike character he was in the season premiere, let him grow up, let him mature.

Mohinder – Again one of the strongest elements of season 2 was the whole Mohinder/HRG company plot, which was again dropped this season in favour of the mad scientist angle.

Keep on, as Main Cast:
Peter - I wouldn't put him back at S1, but the Empathy with all the powers is a really great way to explore the Heroes universe... he doesn't need to be the main protag and source of the Apocalypse for another second, though... drop that tired line. He can't be the dreamer anymore.
Noah - Since they've killed off the 12, he's the best link we have to the Universe as a whole. Use him for that.
Hiro - LOST does a great job with flashbacks and flashforwards, Hiro would be incredibly awesome at exploring these.
Elle - Because she's kinda awesome, even though her storylines have been weak as heck. Imagine her with a good story?
Claire- "The Cheerleader" is kinda the heart of the series. If you want to overhaul the show, you have to overhaul her. How about separating her from the rest of the cast for a while? Claire undergoing changes is the perfect metaphor for the show undergoing changes. And her being her own person, as opposed to a simple minded adolescent, is great fodder to make HRG more than "For my family"-man.

Keep as recurring Cast/Guest Stars:
Mohinder - Character assassination aside, Mohinder is the best qualified to explore the science of the show, as well as the spiritual aspects. Humble him and get him back in a lab and with narrator's microphone. Bring him around every other episode or so.
Sylar- is tired and needs a rest. Give him an arc later in the season after the writers have some time to sit down and think about what he's done.
Ando- If Hiro's going to stop being comic relief, that means is comic relief partner gets to take a break too.
Molly, Micah- I just like them. And they're great actors for their age. They deserve a good arc, even if they aren't season mains.
Knox and Daphne Despite having no depth, these are great characters as recurring roles.

EVERYONE else can be removed, and perhaps even should be, dramatically so. That includes storylineless Matt Parkman, Nathan Petrelli the resurrection man, and anyone played by Ali Larter. I think these characters are around primarily because their actors are beloved. The characters themselves are worthless at this point, there is nothing that they do that could not be done better and more efficiently by an existing or new character. If they're so popular, spin them off into their own show, instead of letting them drag down Heroes into a clusterfrack of mediocrity.

I agree with this list for the most part except I would keep Ali Larter as Tracey (would choose Jessica but youknow...)

I like Tracy. I think she brings refreshment to people learning about their powers.
I really like seeing how different personality archtypes react to this gift they recieve.

I think Tracy will embrace her powers now that she's learning control, and use become a villian.

At this point when it comes to getting rid of characters, the writers are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

No matter who they get rid of, they'll be letting down one massive group and pissing off another massive group.

They did it in Season1 just fine. But ofcourse now we have a core cast that more or less know is safe so it takes a little bit of shock out of killing the newer charecters.

How massive?

The beauty of this thread is knowing no one here has the power or skill to say what goes in this show. That being said I don't care who stays or who goes as long as it's relevant I'm good.
Although I would like Maya to stay just because she's hot. :)
