Drama Damon Lindelof Developing The Leftovers at HBO

Awesome news.

Question... has anyone here read the book? If so, please don't post any spoilers... I just want to know if the show follows the book fairly closely and if they ever find out what caused this rapture-like event. (Although if they do, please don't say what it is).

HBO continues being awesome.
Its my favorite with Fx right behind. They have the best shows.

I haven't read the books though I have considered it. I do recall reading some reviews and I want to say the book didn't reveal the why, only how folks dealt with it, just like the show does.

I've heard that the pilot covered a lot of the book.

Makes sense. I had thought the book was supposedly short.

Do we really have any reason to believe that that decision was made entirely by HBO, though? The show is still pretty successful by their standards and it's not like Terence Winter and Martin Scorsese are some little-known pushovers with no clout. I'm willing to bet the ball was just as much in their court as the network's.

Thank the rapture this was renewed. They said that the first season doesnt wrap things up so I was afraid.

This show hurts my brain. :( I just don't get it.

Eh, I didn't care for it but for some reason I stuck with it. It's still not amazing television in my opinion but it seems to be heading in an interesting direction.

So the guilty remnant intend to murder each other to make the world remember the departed? How's that? :(

Wow, truly incredible stuff. That's dedication ! Very cool that they go all the way with Kevin's thing, that it's not just a hallucination. Great great performances by Theroux & Dowd in this episode. The show keeps looking really distinct & great visually.

That's basically where Im at with this.
For the show will be so much better if the daughter actually had something to do (seems like she will after last night episode) and the Guilty Remnant were gone

Loved Liv Tyler getting slapped and shushed last night. What an annoying character

I have never hated someone/people as much as I do the Guilty Remnant. Pretty sure I hate them more than I did Joffery lol

But Liv Tyler's freak out pushed it over the edge for me "YOU DON'T KNOW ME, HOW DARE YOU!"

All I could think was "*****, what about the ****ed up **** yall do like stalking people and breaking into their homes!?!?!!" :cmad::cmad::cmad:

LOL The irony of that scene was hilarious. Do unto others GR...Do unto others.

Beyond fantastic acting from Theroux and Dowd at this episode.

I died when Liv Tyler got slapped. I would've done the same! :lmao:

I really don't know what the hell is going on this show, where is headed, or what's the overall point of the series... but for some reason I can't stop watching it.

Holy shucks, Jill is so beyond annoying. Then again, she is a teenager.

If Theroux doesn't get Emmy notice or something else, I'm going to be pretty surprised. I had no idea he had this in him, he should be getting a lot more roles after that.

The acting on this show is so, so good. It's kind of embarrassing that shows like Under the Dome exist when you watch something like The Leftovers, lol.

Just found out that Patti is the same actress who played Erroll Childress' sister/lover in True Detective (side note: gross). Knew I'd seen her somewhere before.
