Drama Damon Lindelof Developing The Leftovers at HBO

I feel like a horrible person but I was cheering when they stoned that old b**ch. I couldn't help it. After she just walked right past that poor guy who appeared to be having a heart attack, I was hoping something awful would happen to her.

i got the impression from the silent nods at the beginning that she agreed to be the sacrifice. I think the GR killed her. And the chief cracks me up, that is exactly how i act and had made me want to be a better person lol

Eh, I haven't seen enough of it yet to judge. It's clear he's in love with her and she's preggo with Wayne's baby. That makes the child potentially the anti-Christ in some people's eyes in this post Rapture world and it could lead to a lot of action. I'm thinking they're storyline is being slowly set up for a major pay off.

That's def the vibe I was getting from all that but I think it's too obvious and hope they subvert my expectations. We shall see though. We all remember how the politician in the first episode acted before and after meeting Wayne. I can't think of too many possibilities they could be setting up for him besides like what you said but then again we could all be getting set up for the old switcheroo

That's a very popular theory that I've seen all over the Internet.

Wnat do you think?

It's a solid theory and probably the most likely one.

It could be a group of teenagers, renegade townsfolk or even a group of crooked cops. A far stretch is that it could be Wayne's people but why would they care about what goes on in Mapleton...? His cult seems like it operates on a larger scale.

I cheered when the old lady died.

Can't stand their cult with all their arbitrary rules, wtf does smoking cigarettes have to do with their beliefs?!

People/characters who are weak-willed and follow something so blindly are a pet peeve of mine. If anyone here watches Falling Skies then you know how the character Lourdes acts, she's the worst.

There are maybe some people that earn a death sentence but I can't condone a stoning. It's just too brutal. :(

You know how every one is (imo wrongly) saying this show isnt good to watch because it's too bleek? The Killing. That's a show too bleak to watch.

Rewatching it again and now I have to agree with this. The stoning was planned, or at least the sacrifice was. Her pleading for them to stop might have come from the unexpected brutality if she hadn't been told ahead of time the manner in which it was to be done.

Yeah, I look forward to seeing each new one. Hope it gets renewed. :)

Another great character analysis episode. Nora is crazy and a little hot.

I can't wait for more Scott Glenn next week.

I wasn't expecting to see Wayne. This show is not predictable, that's for sure. :)

They need to stick to these episodes, so much better when they are tight and focused on one character...

Unbelievable episode. Say what you want about Lindelof, the writing is incredible. Carrie Coon killed it as well, not surprised that Fincher cast her in Gone Girl.

I don't believe that the show is "so much better" when focused on one character, it's just part of the structure of the show to break it down from time to time to surprise us & avoid a boring routine. IMO, it mixes it up nicely & it's good to have a breather from time to time.

Wayne was super surprising indeed, I think my jaw dropped kinda when this happened and just beautiful stuff.

@squeekness: it's a shoe-in for a renewal, the ratings live are good, and most of all, on all HBO platforms, it's like 8 million viewers, it's a big hit for HBO & the execs said they were really happy with the show.

Good to know. :D

Yeah, I really like Nora but not only is she crazy, she's kinda stupid. Seriously, if Tom "I'm a Psycho in Everything Because I Look Like One" Noonan came up to you on the street and asked you to follow him into a sh**ty New York apartment, would you do it? I get that she's at the end of her rope, but come on, girl! Have a little common sense!

She hired hookers to shoot her. That could EASILY go wrong. Following some guy to a dumpy apartment building is a walk in the park for her lol.

Honestly when Wayne started talking about foreseeing his own death, I thought she was going to panic and shoot him as he moved in to hug her. That's the kind of weird twists of fate I'd expect from this show. I actually like Wayne. I hope he lives.

I'm not sure about Wayne yet. I think he does have some sort of healing power but I'm not sure he's a good guy. Guess we'll see.

Anyone see the trailer of that Nicholas Cage Left Behind movie? It seriously looks like the Asylum ripoff version of this.

Left Behind probably came first. The books have been out for years.

Oh yeah, I know... I'm just referring to the way the movie is made and the way they cut the trailer, with that sad-sounding music at the end. It looks like they're trying to copy the style of this show.

Another excellent episode.

If I paid that much I wish the guy I'm hugging doesn't look like he hasn't showered in days. :o
