......Igor as the main character, and being played by Radcliffe are both odd.

I know that Igor wasn't in the book but he was made famous in 'Bride of Frankenstein'. And I know these characters have transcended the original novel and Max Landis consolidated all of that into his screenplay.

But I wish Landis created a new character and not use Igor. Rename him or maybe Frankenstein had another assistant? Something.... Hmm I don't know but it's hard to gauge the project.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Igor didn't come in until Son or Ghost of Frankenstein, when played by Bella Lugosi.

Sure it was a frankenstein movie? i recall Lugosi playing Igor in one of the Wolfman-flicks aswell. Long time since I saw those though.

After doing some research, there were many 'IGOR' type characers in the Universal films, but none of them were actually named 'Igor' proper. Maybe not till much later on when Univeral were getting into their 'sequelitis/parody' stage. So 'Igor' is not only is a misconception created by pop culture, satirized by TV shows or comedies like Young Frankenstein, but is more of an archetype for the 'assistant' type.

But I'm just hoping that Frankenstein's Monster himself is more..faithful to the source material, like what G. Del Toro wanted to do when he wanted to do a Frankenstein adaptation himself. I've read the book and while it's good, it's mostly monologues and flashbacks; the dialog is rich but overdrawn (just the style of that particular era. Kinda like 'Dorian Grey'.) That's why it's great for the stage, like the one directed by Danny Boyle, starring the two 'Sherlocks' Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.

Nobody can top Marty Feldman's version. :)

I just want Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein movie. But it's buried under all his other projects, so who knows when that will be...

Ygor's first appearance is in Son of Frankenstein.

I'm interested in what this Frankenstein movie will be, although casting Radcliffe as the lead is a tad strange for my tastes.

That remind me of the animated film Igor which was about the Igor assistants of the mad scientists living in the town.

‘Boardwalk Empire’s Jack Huston, Toby Kebbel Eyed By Fox For Frankenstein Film
By MIKE FLEMING JR

EXCLUSIVE: In olden times, when they looked for Frankenstein, there were angry townsfolk, pitchforks and torches. Now, it’s a couple of first class airline tickets to fly a few actors to London to read for director Paul McGuigan and Fox brass for the role of Victor Von Frankenstein. I’m hearing that the two actors who’ve been brought over for this are Boardwalk Empire‘s Jack Huston, and Toby Kebbel, whose breakout was the Guy Ritchie-directed RocknRolla. Daniel Radcliffe is going to play Igor in the saga and John Davis’s Davis Entertainment is producing. Studio insiders caution that list might be expanded, but I’m hearing that the decision will be made this week or next. Sounds like this will be wrapped up shortly.

Meh... I just hope its like the hammer films and not the same stuff done over and over.

Frankensteins Army has me more geeked than this.

Why can't anyone make a version faithful to the original book?! The characters and relationship between frankenstein and the monster is SO GOOD!

Yay, another horror movie just after Christmas. I love it.

It's not just the fact that Fox wants Gone Girl to play as well as The Social Network did back in 2010, but they've seen how horror films perform well during January. (My guess is that they'll see how Devil's Due, I, Frankenstein and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones do next year and see if they'll keep it in the January slot.)

And they don't want to spar with Dracula Untold. It's usually bad for horror films to open against each other around October.

Also, I guess Fox sees Jan as their 'sleep hit' month, with Taken and Chronicle being hits those months.
