The absence of "faces" does not mean you can't have any levity in the film. If they want a funny moment, give it to one of the characters in the film.

A funny cameo or two (like Ashy Larry in Spider-man 2) benefit a movie if done right.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I heard the news.
