Transformers These Transformers LOOK way cooler.

I would actually go that in light of the robots being so technologically enhanced (human holograms and stuff) that they should just make their entire bodies holograms and conceal themselves from the humans. It would make more sense logically because it can already be done.

But it's not the transformers we know because otherwise they wouldn't transform. What we got in the movie was an updated look the transformers have been wanting to push for, for years, but have been limited to by the "boxes" because toys are not able to transform as complex.

In fact the only real transformer toy that can transform into a vehicle and not look like a box or have a "backpack" is the Ultimate bumblebee. Transformers needs a new look, and the movie has done that. Sadly, the toys have not. Barricade's arm is the entire side of his car......wow....neat and high tech...

Yea I agree about the toys. I bought almost all of them and they don't look like crap compared to the movie, the vehicles are awesome put when they turn into robot form they are blocky and don't look like the movie. I wish I hadn't bought Prime because he doesn't look jack like the movie.

i understand that. But if Bumblebee could switch to another form at whim, why couldn't Megatron? I'd understand your point if the only time transformers could copy a vehicle was right after it landed but that's not really the case in the film.

Who said he couldn't? ... Megatron woke up, busted up the joint and started kicking ass. What reason would he have to hide in an alt mode.

The entire reason for alt modes is to stay hidden. What exactly did Megatron need to hide from once he thawed out? His sole mission was to acquire the Allspark, and he didn't give two ****s who knew he was an alien robot. One doesn't feel the need, or desire, to acquire a costume when one doesn't see any reason to disguise one's identity.

So what question am I not answering? The one where you muse over why they didn't acquiesce to your preference? I guess the answer to that one would be: someone with authority over the movie preferred differently.

Dude, the guy got disoriented by Earth's magnetic field. Some freakin navigator- like he's never visited a planet before. Megs ain't very bright in this movie. The Queen from Aliens was smarter than him.

Yeah, that made me chuckle. Additionally, how the **** would they know WHAT made him crash?

Well, it's not like Megs was all that intelligent in the cartoons either. He kept Starscream alive far longer than any leader should have. It took being taken apart and being rebuilt by Unicron for him to finally off the guy.

I wondered the same thing myself. I however had been reading about the prequel novel and I in it the Autobots find out about everything that happened to Megatron, hense them knowing about it in the movie. Maybe this will answer alot of our questions.

Since the overwhelming majority of people who watch the movie don't even know of the existence of the prequel novel, and even amongst those that do most won't ever pick it up, I think referring to it for clarity is complete BS and only speaks to the sloppiness of the end product that made it into theatres.

The first quote was in response that Megatron landed in the Arctic Circle, thereby implying that Megatron would not be able to copy a tank, particulary in that time period. My response shows that despite time, it would be conceivable that Megatron could pick an alt-form. Warhammer was making the argument that Megatron couldn't do it.

Did I at any point say that you were not answering a question? I didn't even muse over why anyone would agree to my preference. I responded to someone wishing that Megatron looked more like his G1 self. I agreed and stated my preference. Which I believe is okay in a forum of free speech.

And someone with authority preferred differently? Thanks, Captain Obvious. I didn't know that. Good looking out.

Actually he was. At least at the beginning he was shown as being highly intelligent and calculating. Commanding the Nemesis to follow directly behind the Ark so they wouldn't get hit by asteriods, trying to keep Starscream from "testing" the energon

Megatron: “Starscream! What in the universe are you doing?”
Starscream: “Testing the energon cubes. They work!”
Megatron: “Of course they work.”
Starscream: “You didn’t know. You never tested them. I proved it.”
Megatron: “You only proved your defective mentality. Now we’ll need two strikes before we have enough energy to return to Cybertron.”
Starscream: “What’s the difference? There’s plenty here for us.”
Megatron: “The difference is time you fool! You’ve set us back!”
Wouldn't it have been awesome if the movie had something as meaningful as that?!!!

P.S.
I have no idea why he kept Starscream alive. I dunno. Politics? Starscream had friends? Starscream sure talked back like he did.

I agree that Megs is a highly intelligent leader. It's just the Starscream thing that sets him back. With the guy talking about mutiny all the time, he should have gotten rid of him long ago. Can't have that kind of influence affecting the morale of the group.

Like I said. Starscream carried himself like he had friends. Even a Roman emperor couldn't just kill another high-ranking officer whily-nilly... there would be civil war.

Plus it was a kid's cartoon. :cwink:

I take it you didn't like the movie, lol. Well they couldn't explain ever single detail in the movie. If so we would have been there for 10 hours. I mean what was the point of Prime telling the information about Megatron and then telling Sam why he knew the information, it wasn't needed. The prequel comic and novel at least explains that to us. We can debate this movie all night long and try to piece together it's story but truth is, it's a fantasy and it's not real. You can't get a sense out of why the story doesn't fit perfect because it's not real to begin with. It's a movie made to entertain not made perfect science and logic.

I don't know about that. Who were his friends? The Combaticons because he basically created them? Were he and Rumble drinking buddies and I never knew it? The least that Megatron could have done was demote the guy. Maybe promote someone like Thundercracker to be head jet-dude.

Plus it was a kid's cartoon. :cwink:
In that case, Megatron should have fired him but sent him a cool "Hate to See You Go/Have a Good Life on your new Venture" card with smiley faces on it.

I loved the movie. It was shoddily made.

I love Billy Madison and Dumb and Dumber too. They're also loved for the same reason I love TF. Highly entertaining. Shallow, but entertaining.

Yea I understand exactly what you mean. Least Paul Anderson didn't get his hands on it. I hate that bastard, ruined Resident Evil.

Ever seen "Master and Commander" and wondered why little brats were the "officers" ... leaders.... and the Captain had to deal with them? Same reason why cadets coming out of West Point TODAY get put in charge of platoons who've been fighting in the thick of it for years. The commander in Aliens? Starscream is obviously someone of importance. The Decepticons are a structured military organization not a street gang ya know? :woot:

Right here you're asking why he couldn't do it. Not why someone else erroneously assumed he couldn't.

I answer your erroneous question.

So please, get off your high horse and actually read and respond accordingly instead of regurgitating the same argument even after I have stated multiple times that logic would not be a necessary restriction.

Again, there was no restriction whatsoever, logical or otherwise. He didn't change into a tank because he didn't want to. Bumblebee changed alts because he wanted to. End of story.

Wow. You don't say? Doesn't change the fact that I think it would have been cool if Megatron took the form of a tank

So now it's not why was he (erroneously assumed to be) unable to grab an alt... It's why didn't you get your COOL?

]Did I at any point say that you were not answering a question? I didn't even muse over why anyone would agree to my preference. I responded to someone wishing that Megatron looked more like his G1 self. I agreed and stated my preference. Which I believe is okay in a forum of free speech.

Yeah. See: get off your high horse and actually read and respond accordingly

And someone with authority preferred differently? Thanks, Captain Obvious. I didn't know that. Good looking out.

Well that seemed in the end to be the only question you were asking, and I offered the most logical answer. Do you want to come up with another new question to retroactively ask?

The robo vision prime is pretty sweet. I picked him up today. I recommend him if you can get past his "backpack."

Right here you're asking why he couldn't do it. Not why someone else erroneously assumed he couldn't.
Yes because it was said that he couldn't due to landing in the Arctic Circle, which seemed to imply that picking an alt-form could only be done when first landing, which is supported in the movie by the Autobots picking alt-forms immediately. Thus, landing in the Arctic Circle was not enough of an explanation and I countered that it is clearly shown in the movie that picking an alt-mode can be done at any time.

I answer your erroneous question.
Ah yes. An erroneous question that was poised to someone who responded without a full answer. There's a feather in your cap.

So now it's not why was he (erroneously assumed to be) unable to grab an alt... It's why didn't you get your COOL?
No. If you read the posts leading up to it, I clearly stated that I thought it would be cool for Megatron too look like his G1 self, agreeing with another poster. The response was that it would have interfered with the plot. I pushed further. The response was then that he wouldn't be able to because he was in the arctic circle. And then you know the rest.

Yeah. See: get off your high horse and actually read and respond accordingly
Respond accordingly. I.E. no need to reference the logic of the movie or the actions of the character when it was clearly stated that logic did not matter as it was a statement of preference. If you had read that and actually put aside your ego and condescension, you would have seen that part.

Well that seemed in the end to be the only question you were asking, and I offered the most logical answer. Do you want to come up with another new question to retroactively ask?
I wasn't even really asking a question. It was a mild discussion on having Megatron look more like his G1 self and positing that taking the form of a tank would have satisfied that.

Now are we done here are you going to make another vain attempt at getting the last word in because you seem to love the sound of your own voice?

*rolls out of bed.

Actually, I'm rather fond of the sound of my keyboard!

I agree that they looked cool. But you have to remember that the cartoon was created to sell the toy, so the cartoon had to look as close to the toy as possible.

My only issue was there weren't enough distinguishing features and in some parts at the end it was hard to tell who was who. Especially with the decepticons.

Gee, my two posts created a war. :csad:

It wasn't so much a war, as me doing a good job of entertaining myself last night. Without *********ing.

That's right, I said it.

i have to say that I was stunned by how great the new designs look for the transformers in the movie.

yeah, the new designs grew on to me, especially Prime and Bumblebee. ILM done a great job putting all of that into motion.

If that's what you think, more power to you.
However, I can guarantee that 90% of the people saying that the Transformers weren't true to the source material won't say the same thing about Batman, or even the X-Men.

Truth!
