Animation Dang ol' King of the Hill appreciation thread

Chuck Mangione, who had a moderate recurring role on the series, has died at the age of 84.
One of my favorite episodes is when Dale is convinced he's living in the Megalo Mart.

That was one of the better Mangione episodes.

I'm only three episodes in but I'm digging the new episodes. The thing I'm confused about is that there's only a 9 year time jump. I get that the original run from 1997-2009 wasn't meant to be in real time even though certain real life events occurred like George W. Bush's presidency, etc. but I feel like 9 years is a little too short a timeframe between the last season and now.

They wanted to avoid Trump.

Don't think about animated series timeline too hard.

It's just interesting because of the characters now being aged up in the continuity instead of staying the same age with the world changing around them like The Simpsons and South Park.

Also, I think 21 is too young an age for Bobby/Joseph/Connie within the context of the show. They should have been aged up 15 years to make them closer to 30.

No mention at all of Luanne, Lucky or Gracie. Just a blink and you'll miss it background photo on a wall reference. Literally, that was it. I had to see a screencap, zoomed in, to see that much.

Maybe season 15/2 will have an actual acknowledgement of their status.

I don't think the show would be dark enough to kill both leaving Uncle Bobby to take care of Gracie as a parallel to Hank and Peggy taking care Luanne. Maybe I stole this from Wattpad.

It's stolen from somewhere. I've seen it mentioned a few times already on other parts of the internet. :funny:

They don't have to be dead though, necessarily. Maybe they moved to another part of Texas, it is big afterall. Or even *gasp* another part of the country. It doesn't have to be grim.

Gracie could visit the Hills or there be the classic one-sided phone call where Peggy or Bobby are talking to Luanne but we don't hear her side of the conversation.

I stole that from somewhere else too.

I saw in an interview that Judge said that they're keeping the characters retired out of respect for Murphy and Petty but I don't think a mention would be out of the question. In the same interview they said that they had to recast Dale because of him being a much more prominent character since Luann was in the show less frequently once Brittany Murphy became busier in Hollywood.

Is that why they moved her out of the house... Only to undo all her character development...
