Believe it or not, some people actually appreciate non-John Williams scoring. Dare I say that some even love Elfman's work and consider it unique enough to warrant praise.

I love D.E., even though I was totally not a fan of his work with Spider Man...

I actually loved Marco Beltrami's work, even bought the H.B. album, but D.E. is just as good news

How has anything that Elfman has done in his career say he wants to be the John Williams of his generation? Their styles are opposites. I'd say Elfman wants to be the Herrmann of his generation.

Elfman's parallels with John Williams don't extend beyond the fact that they have both created many memorable scores. For Williams, it's Superman, Indiana Jones, Jaws, and Star Wars; for Elfman it's Batman, Spider-Man, The Simpsons, and Mission Impossible.

You're right, Elfman is trying to be the next Williams...its plainfully obvious how similar they sound. He should just relax and let Williams do all the scores on the planet.

Its pretty awesome. I personally like it a lot better than Marco Beltrami's largely underwhelming score for the first film.
