Danny Elfman to score Hellboy 2!

Let's see...

Batman
Batman Returns
Flash: The Series
The Hulk
Spider-Man
Spider-Man 2
Hellboy 2

I like him and all, but boy am I tired of constantly hearing his music in like every superhero movie

You forgot Darkman, Dick Tracy, Men in Black, and Men in Black 2. :o

I like how he ripped HIMSELF off with the score of Spider-Man. I was sitting there, wondering if iwas was 1989 again.

Someone should watch this video

^I know what you mean, but if they are keeping the main theme from the first movie, i think this one will be quite different from his usual fare.

Ooooh, wonderful news! Danny Elfman is absolutely spectacular at what he does.

like him, but i liked marcos theme from the first film, there was nothing wrong with that score.

Yeah that's right, he's too much of a synonym ringing with comicbooks, but a universe like HELLBOY he was sorta born to score for.

I agree, i wich Beltrami would have come back, not only would he be cheaper, but I'm afraid Elfman might completely change the nature of the score for this 2nd movie, even with the main theme intact. And i hate it when they do that.

I love the Hellboy music from the first movie!! I hope Elfman's score is as delicious!

Awesome news. I hope he can live up to Beltrami's score though because that was...fantastic. Especially during Liz's esplosion at the end while Hellboy's fighting the hounds. Great stuff. Can't wait to hear what Elfman has to offer though. I still hear Beltrami's music when I read the comics.

Cool beans! Elfman won't f' it up.

Also, Savage, your sig is awesome. I like the way the guy on X-Play says "Jack Koyby." :woot:

Agreed, that is possibly the best moment of the first movie musicly, the score in that scene adds a lot of emotion to it.

This movie is going to be awesome. I think the fact that it's overshadowed by Dark Knight and Iron man is a good thing.

Yeah, this is going to be such a suprise hit.

They need an entire episode of X-play dedicated to that man.

Holy shyit.
This makes me very excited. I epecially love the fact that Elfman will keep the Ta-de-dum-ta-de-dum theme from the Hellboy main theme.

This movie continues to sky rocket into my most anticipated movies of the year, it may pass Iron Man for no.2

I think it is just a sign that this movie is going to be bigger than the first

like there was nothing wrong with the first movie, it was awesome, but if we can make it bigger, lets do it...same goes for like the theme music i guess

^I dunno, watching the 1st movie for the 1st time in a good while the other day, the score was superb by Beltrami, and i will really miss it.

Plus the fact that Beltrami probably would have been cheaper, meaning more money to spend on the movie.

Some of Beltrami's smaller theme's will be missed as well.

Interesting. I feel bad for Beltrami though, he can't get a break.

I think Elfman should use the basic theme Beltrami made and turn it up to 11. The march could've been stronger and more repetitive in the first movie. Basically turn that theme into Hellboy's Batman march.

I think Beltrami is doing just fine job-wise.

I think Del Toro would have used Elfman if he was available for the first Hellboy movie so, I'm sure it has nothing to do with how good or bad Marco did on the first film.

Well he used Beltrami since he collaborated with him on Blade 2.

I wonder what kind of music Beltrami did for TMNT that got jettisoned. Munroe said he was doing a real theme for the turtles.

Elfman is also scoring wanted according to http://upcomingfilmscores.blogspot.com/
I thought nothing was wrong with Beltrami's Hellboy score. It was FLAWLESS in the movie and CD.He did an AMAZING job with HB although I was always impressed with Beltrami since his Scream days. But HB proved that Beltrami came a long way from the Scream Trilogy. IMO, what Beltrami did for Hellboy is what Williams did for Superman, Elfman did for Batman and Spidey movies, Goldsmith did for The Shadow and Horner did for The Rocketeer movie. I know that sounds like pretty high praise, but it's deserving of that. That's why Beltrami will be missed. He really brought a new sound to the superhero/comic book movie genre and a GREAT sound for the Hellboy universe.
