Any chance for Goddard to return for another Netflix show?

Devin Faraci just posted in the comments on his site that Goddard left Daredevil because he couldn't work with Jeph Loeb/Marvel. He didn't choose Sinister Six over the show.

Yeah, it's El Mayimbe, but any shred of hope that Sinister Six has been cancelled, no matter how skeptical it makes me happy.

i think people should stop staying "it's El Mayimbe". he's been right by a ration of like 9:1 for the past year and even the Hulk scoop (which is when people started turning on him) is turning out to be true.

can we talk about the tone/look of the show for a bit

my one worry is since this is a netflix show, people will have certain expectations (house of cards/orange is the new black) but since marvel tv/abc is making this, with netflix as the distributor, some people might feel bait and switched?

basically my concern is that i felt agents of shield was a) too light-hearted in tone and more importantly b) felt so "TV"

the camera work/cinematography/sets were a big step back compared to the movies, and i get that, budgets, etc...

but the TV/netflix bar has been raised so much (house of cards, boardwalk empire, breaking bad, game of thrones, etc), i just hope it "looks right." it should feel like the one big 13hr long piece, as opposed to just episodes with mini-storyarcs.

for example boardwalk empire and house of cards take place over several months, but if you were to watch each episode back-to-back they have a "flow" to them, and it's very organic

Well, Quesada said something like " the first season is like a 13 h Movie ", so I a Not worried by that.

I don't think it will be light hearted like AOS. Quesada said also that the show would be dark. What did he said exactly ? something like " it smells urine " of I remember.

So the only thing that could bot her me is a " too TV cinematography " But, knowing the budget and the showrunner, I'm expectant more, way way more than AOS.

yeah i remember joeyQ saying that, but that line has been used for like every television show ever "it's like one ____hr long movie!!!" that's his job to hype it

even the newest season of 24 felt like good mini-cinema, but maybe that's just because of the aspect ratio they film on?

i just hope it looks like a movie, that's a huge presentation point for me personally

It's not going to be as light as Agents of SHIELD (hell, I don't think Agents of SHIELD season two will be as light as season one was). That was a mix of several factors: network television, an 8pm timeslot, and the need for everything to feel safe and secure before TWS destroyed it all.

i hope so, but i'm not 100% sold yet. i'll have to wait for comic-con footage or trailer for the first episode/season

I just hope Marvel-- or Jesus, Loeb, don't think the audience are expecting or wanting an AoS vibe from these shows. Just keep Loeb as far away from this as possible. Going by Feige's comments (on not knowing AoS' plans), Loeb has more control over this stuff than I thought. It scares me.

The one That seems to be the most involved in the netflix series is Quesada, which isn't a problem because Daredevil was always strong under him. As for Loeb, If he remembers his DD Yellow mini series, then I wouldn't be sacre date all. AoS was plagued by uninteresting and boring new characters, and by a show that tried too hard to expand the MCU.

Daredevil Is 1000 time more interesting, original and fascinating than Ward and co, and If they focus on revamping and adapting his rogue gallery, I don't Know how Daredevil can be anything like AoS.

What is unknown, on the other hand, is What kind of cinematography we can hope. seing the world like Matt can be a unique experience. The serie " The sentinel " proved that supersenses can be done right on Tv budget ( and Daredevil can improve the rendition ) but the radar sense Is really That will make it work or suck.

If we're being logical, Daredevil should get a $50 million budget, as Marvel said $200 million for four shows (not including The Defenders it seems, that's considered as a miniseries): Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones & Daredevil.

That would give us basically $4 million an episode on a 13 episode season, that's pretty substantial. LOST for example had a $14 million pilot, but then $4 million per episode, Terra Nova had $4 million per episode, GOT $6 million.

Considering it's Netflix as well, that Marvel is putting up big figures for these shows, I have no doubt it's going to look very good & probably miles beyond AOS.

cap 1 was only filming for about 2 weeks if i remember and they had stuff to show san diego

I doubt they were carefully distinguishing between series and mini-series, so I would count the Defenders in the budget unless they say otherwise. Still, that's just under 3 and a half million per episode, which is nothing to blush at.

Well, I meant footage that was "ready" to show, so to speak. They've clearly filmed things (the scene with Matt being blinded, for example), but I don't know if it's been polished yet.

Haven't they been filming for several weeks now? If so that's more time than CA:TFA & GotG had and they both showed footage at CC in their respective years.

So I'd say there's a good chance.

DeKnight was just on the live feed for the GotG premiere, and said that the show is going for a "gritty, 1970's New York feel". He also mentioned that he saw something extremely cool for the show that he isn't able to talk about yet. I'm gonna say that maybe they'll show off some footage this weekend!
