My assumption is they'll be mostly separate but still build to some degree. Don't forget that they'll all be together in The Defenders. It's hard to say, but Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are dating and Luke Cage and Iron Fist are business partners. Whether they want to deal with all that together or not is an open question, though. They may keep their solo stories entirely separate and deal with all the ways they intertwine together when we get to that.

If I had to make a guess, there will be little, if any, crossover during the individual shows. After all, they are being released in order, and so crossover could only work forward.

Well, it could build. It goes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Case, and Iron Fist, iirc. In theory, Killgrave could be in Daredevil and be the main foe of Jessica Jones. Then Luke Cage and Jessica Jones could meet up in Luke Cage's storyline and start dating. Finally, Iron Fist could meet with Luke Cage in his storyline and agree to form Heroes for Hire.

I'm not saying that would be the case (if I had to guess, it won't be), but it is possible.

I think this is probably the most likely scenario. There will probably be cameo appearances in the solo series, setting up for more interactions in Defenders. I can see Kingpin as a through note in the series, like having most of the series villains working for or being associates of Fisk, and then the Defenders coming together to take him down for good. Also, on a side note, Jessica's origin in the comics is tied into DD's, being in the same accident. It would be nice if they stuck to that as a way to further tie things together.

Maybe all four shows would be running concurrently, across approximately the same interval of time... think Hulk, Iron Man 2 and Thor, whose events, for the most part, took place at around the same time.

Then in the Defenders, the four heroes realize that they've all been up against the same foe (maybe Kingpin's been orchestrating everything?) and they decide to come together to take him and his organization down.

I too like the idea of Kingpin possibly being the villain for The Defenders as well.

Well, between the show runner and the casting so far, I'm truly anticipating this show. This has to be something special, I hope, to attract some big names.

Dawson is awesome and I really, really can't wait for them to announce her character!

The online predictions:

- Elektra
- Typhoid Mary
- Ava Ayala
- Maya Lopez
- Karen Page
- Milla Donovan
- Jessica Jones
- Misty Knight
- Night Nurse

I was pretty excited for this before, but now I'm pumped! Go Rosario :hrt:

I'm thinking she's not Jessica Jones, if only because the role specifically says critical to DD, and while JJ would be huge, she's getting her own show. (Though Dawson would make a great JJ!)

If they're tying the series directly to Waid's work, you want to throw in Kirsten McDuffie (sp) as well. But she could be any of those characters!

Though I'd really rather her be a super heroine, if only to watch her kick all the butts! ;)

I'm thinking (based on my research of these characters, which only takes a few minutes online), that she's either McDuffie, Page or Donovan.

I'm not really familiar with Waid's work, so I didn't know McDuffie, however I think that's correct. Oddly enough, before I checked who she was, I was going to suggest an original character who's a prosecutor. Really, someone who is a prosecutor seems like a needed character for the show.

Hmm.....

If it was McDuffie or Page or even Donovan, wouldn't Marvel have announced that she was playing one of those women?

I think Ms. Dawson should be Elektra, too big a name not to be someone really popular.

I'm gonna take an outside shot and say that she's Matt's nun mother in flashbacks. :o

Rosario playing Echo is another popular theory that I've heard. As much as I like Karen, Milla, or Kristen, I think that it'd be kind of a waste to cast Rosario Dawson as any of them. I'm not saying that she cannot play non-action roles (she's a good actress after all). But with a show like this, where action will probably not be in short supply, to not cast an actress known for her badassery would be disappointing. Elektra, Echo, Typhoid Mary, whatever. Just make her a "cape" of some kind. In regards to Elektra, I feel like people shouldn't use her comic book portrayal to dismiss this possibility. Marvel has shown many times in the past that they're perfectly willing to make changes to the source material if they deem it appropriate. So it's quite possible that TV show Elektra (if she appears) might be somewhat different from Comic Book Elektra.

Farren Blackburn has helmed a number of TV episodes for the BBC, including well-known shows like Doctor Who, Luther and The Fades. The director has now taken to Twitter to reveal that his next project will be an episode of Daredevil for Marvel and Netflix.

Awesome I loved Luthor and The Fades so great pick.

He has already directed shows featuring Marvel actors Idris Elba, Natalie Dormer and Iain De Caestecker :woot:

His episodes of Doctor Who weren't great, but the Luther episodes worked really well (despite my not entirely buying one particular plot point). Really, Luther has a tone that comes close to that of Daredevil (I read a review of Luther comparing him to Batman, so he's very much the modern-age down to earth superhero). I haven't seen anything that made me go huh so far.

No, but it's in great hands . I'll get behind the camera later in season. RT @Lumetian: will you be directing the Daredevil pilot?
And given the way Blackburn talked about it, it doesn't seem that he's doing the premiere episode either. Wonder who is...
