I really hope Elektra shows up in this... though I'm starting to doubt it. Rosario would be a great fit but I feel like it's not who she's playing.

I certainly hope not. I hope that the reason why her role hasn't been announced is so that Maya Lopez can be introduced as Ronin before being unmasked. Plus, you'd need somebody of Rosario Dawson's character to play a character who communicates entirely through sign language.

Really hope she isn't playing Echo. I don't understand all the love for the character.

If she's playing Elektra I think they'd have just outright said it. The fact they're holding her character's identity back makes me think it's someone who'll be a part of more than just the Daredevil series.

The strongest argument for Dawson playing an original character is that they announced all the comic book characters. But then they announced an original character too. This tells me they want to keep her identity a secret, at least at first. To me, this suggests she's not an original character. After all, with an original character, they only need to keep secret the significance of the character, not her name.

I think we can (semi-)safely rule out Elektra. Firstly, the character synopsis almost completely renders her an "INO" Elektra if that were the case. From everything the show's creators have said, it's going to be quite faithful to its comic roots. There would be no reason to alter a character to that extent. Secondly, why would they reveal characters like Kingpin, Karen Page, Foggy Nelson and Daredevil himself but still remain silent on Elektra?

Next up... if she were an original character, why not just reveal the name, as they did in the case of Peter Shinkoda?

My thinking is that Dawson's Misty Knight. Maybe they didn't want to reveal who she's playing because her character gets an arc across all four shows, and not just Daredevil. Canonically, she has somewhat more affiliation with the other three characters (to varying degree) than Daredevil. We'd basically be getting five major Defenders characters for the "price" of four.

Admittedly, it might be a case of me wanting something to be true rather than that being the likeliest scenario.

This guy was on a Defenders team. He doesn't strike me as a character that would be in this show, but maybe he will. There's some sort of minor connection, I suppose.

Charles Fleischer? I'd say Ruben directing is more likely, though.

The only things going against that are the other chairs. They say Murdock and Nelson instead of Cox and Henson. The director's chair could be different, though.

Mayimbe had a good streak going there for a stretch, but it's still probably better to take it with a grain of salt. That being said, the Sinister Six setup in TASM2 was terrible and we've seen two ASM2 writers imply the franchise may go in a different direction. If Goddard's free, I could see him doing Iron Fist.


Or maybe a Spider-Man MCU film...

I'm not expecting it at all. To play devil's advocate, though, Disney and Sony announced a partnership at E3 involving Disney Infinity 2.0 (Hulk's on Sony platforms first) showing that at least one part of the two companies are working together, the Spidey franchise is in a state of flux, and Marvel and Sony reportedly get along okay.

If you're talking about Marvel, then that's not quite true. Disney flat out owns the Spider-Man merchandise. There's no real partnership about it anymore. The Marvel partnership that Sony announced at E3 is separate from the merchandise deals.
