Am I the only one who has trouble explaining to people that are stuck on overrated heroes like Wolverine, Spider-Man, Batman, etc. that Daredevil is a way better hero than any of them? Especiialy Batman!

I'm talking to my friend, and every time I bring up how cool a hero Daredevil is, he automatically says DD's a bad hero because he had a "bad" movie and he has no powers. People claim that he doesn't have cool powers, but neither does Batman, but of course because the guy can "take down anyone", they count that as a power (but to be honest, it might as well be a power). For the record, I really think DD can beat Batman in hand-to-hand combat, honestly.

DD goes through so much crap on a daily basis that it's nothing to him now. But the minute Batman finds out people have been playing brainwash with his mind, he nearly brings the end of the DCU with a fleet of "Sentinels". DD's lost so much and hasn't gotten a thing to show for it and continues to keep going. Things never get better for this guy. It's like jaydawg said:

"Writers find ways to make Matt's life more ****ed up, just as they try to find ways to make Batman look better than everyone else in the DCU"

Now don't think this is a Batman VS DD thread, cause it aint. It's a "WHY THE **** IS DD SO UNDERRATED" thread.

Let's not be dissing the Bats now!

DD has been a great book since I first discovered Bendis and Maleev's run.

Spidey,Bats,Supes,Hulk and arguably Wolvie are household names.

He's alright, I guess. I just don't identify with him in any way, and thus it's difficult for me to especially like him.

I dont think he's underrated. DD is a really good street level superhero. I wouldnt go nearly so far as to say that he's the greatest hero ever.
Having a crappy life doesnt make you a hero. I know lots of people that have terrible lives but they keep going.

Not committing suicide doesnt make you a hero.

Understandable. I guess I'm saying that cause I'm just a bit biased right now. Either that or I'm just a little heated, but ah well I'm over it.

I agreed with everything until the last statement. Now, don't get me wrong, i'm not saying everyone is a hero for not commiting suicide. I'm saying, that sometimes, the hardest thing in the world, is to live in it (Thank you Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Sometimes, when the **** hits the fan in a major way (as did with DareDevil), the simplest thing in the world, and the easiest it may seem, would be to end it. End the suffering and the pain.

In this, Dare Devil is the greatest hero. Not many have been through as much **** as Bendis and Maleev alone put that guy through, and even fewer would carry on trying to do the right thing (even if it is actually the wrong thing they're doing),

Is this to say I agree with DareDevil being 'the greatest hero ever point blank'? No, I don't. The Fantastic Four have stopped the devourer of worlds, the Avengers have faced the master of time itself. There are heroes that have done more impressive feats in the Marvel Universe, and they take away the top spot from Mr. Murdoch. But he does get an honorable mention :D

Well I think we can all relate to defending something we are passionate about :)

nah, no one represents the essence of being a hero like CAP.

I think he means relative to everyone. Ever.
Then that's stupid. "Point blank" refers to a physical distance. I want to know what Daredevil has to be pressed right up against in order to be the greatest hero ever.

How can you be the greatest hero ever AND a lawyer?

Not gonna happen.

Now The Thing on the other hand. :D

:thing: :thing: :thing:

The Thing's heroics have always been as part of a team. I think the "greatest hero ever" would have to be a solo individual.

Or failing that a team leader at least.

I agree, Daredevil is the greatest hero when someone sticks a gun in his face and shoots. I'd love to see that.

By that reasoning, Walter Payton was not a hero. Audie Murphy wasn't a hero. 9/11 Firemen were not heroes. Along with a million non commanding officers.

Thing IS one of the greatest heroes in comicdom. Even if he was a member of a team.

naw, maybe he can scream "not like this" and rocket his red ass up to an imaginary kree ship and explode!!! that would original!

I believe he said that the Thing doesn't qualify as "the greatest hero ever." As in a single person who is a greater hero than all others. So, really, by his reasoning, none of what you just said makes any sense.

Hey! Marvel would never do that... they'd think of an entirely different but equally sucky way to kill off Daredevil... like being raped by Wilson Fisk, and commiting suicide :(

Relax, Daredevil's not dying anytime soon. He rakes in too much money and choice creative talent.

I wasn't. He really does rake in too much money and choice talent.
