What are the five most dark filmd you have ever seen. (doesn't have to be ones you like)

Mine are
5. The Dark Knight
4. Donnie Darko
3. Oldboy
2. Mystic River
1. Taxi Driver

Note: haven't seen all of a Clockwork Orange yet.

I don't know about the darkest, but Gone Baby Gone is up there for me. TDK is probably the most intense film I've seen this year. Blade Runner is dark for its day. Also, the general disposition of every 'out for their own personal gain' character in the Maltese Falcon makes it one of those kind for me. Full Metal Jacket is like that. I can't group them into any order, but those are some I can think of off the top of my head.

dark city :D

lol

i guess it would be obvious to mention tim burton but i refuse to.

Sweeney Todd is definitely high up there.

Se7en is one bleak, grim piece of film. There are like 2/3 laughs in it. I think that's the one.

...Okay...

Sweeney Todd is definitely dark. A big downer of an ending.

The Godfather Part II. Michael's downfall is quite depressing.

5. No Country For Old Men
4. Silence Of The Lambs
3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (74)
2. Blue Velvet
1. Cannibal Holocaust

All films to watch on Christmas.

Wait Donnie darko is dark? I thought it was comedy? At least I was laughing through most of it.

Oh and the Thing is dark.

The Excorcist. Naming a horror movie may be cheap, but nothing is quite as dark as *********ing with a cruxafix.

texas chainsaw massacre
the shining
seven
poltergeist
jacob's ladder

i haven't seen cannibal holocaust and not so sure i want to .. that's dark.

I know that Cannibal Holocaust is as nasty as you can possibly get, but how is it really a dark film? The movie even seemed like an actual documentary, so that alone ends it for me classifying it as dark.

Nightmare On Elm Street parts 1 & 2

:doom: :doom: :doom:

I'm glad someone mentioned 8MM. Despite the various "inaccuracies", it's got some of the darkest stuff you'll ever see in mainstream film.

No Country for Old Men. The ending is so dark that people were mad at it because it just....ended. No resolution.
The bad guy gets away, one hero dies and the other gives up.

Dumplings.
Depends. It's a film you have to pay attention to to understand the true horror that's happening otherwise it's just some crazy old bat rambling on about eating babies and stuff.

Reguiem of Dream
Kids
Gummo
Bully
The Prestige
Dark City
Equilibrium
Fight Club
Se7en
Lost Highway
Batman Begins
Pewees Big Adventure ( I watched this for the first time in like 10 years not to long ago and was astounded with how dark it actually was)
And i cant think of anymore right now but i know i could here in a few
