Those reviews are still total crap. I can't believe the number of *****ebag games journalists who are still stuck on the fact that Darksiders has been influenced by other games.

So Darksiders inspired by Zelda and God of War is derivative but Borderlands basically being an FPS Diablo is inspired? The level of hypocrisy is just pathetic. In the age of citizen journalism, the industry's really gonna have to start examining it's role since people really aren't reliant on certain reviewers anymore. Maybe once upon a time people relied on one publication for all it's reviews but now people have options and having a lazy ill researched opinion is just gonna send people elsewhere.

they (the makers of darksiders) did say they were bringing back adventure gaming or plat forming of that style back any way. Most of the other old school games like golden sun, died and there's only zelda to reference. Cause it's what lasted the longest and what most people will understand fastest / with out question, as these reporters speak/ know. Any farther before that reference wise and any one that was born during the mid 90's will go "what's that?"

I'm surprised that's still a complaint. That was usually the biggest complaint about the first one but I never found it to be troublesome at all. I find this to be a lot less like Zelda than number 1. This game feels like its own game

its is, but some people seem to have issue with any thing that has similarity's. Remember there was posters that compared the first darksiders to god of war since it was mostly a slasher to a degree and any game that used a blade of some sort was compared to gow. Like Dante's inferno for Examples . same happened with the other gow "gears" with the third person thing, you see some moron saying it on the gt comments often as if it was /those were the games that invented the wheel, cause that poster didn't play any thing else til before he encountered those games . .

You know what's funny? I have a friend that really liked the first game. Some day, when I showed him God of War 3, he called it a cheap wannabe Darksiders. Now by no means am I a giant GoW nut, haven't even finished a single game except for the PSP game, but I kinda wanted to smack him.

lol next time don't stop your self and show him the date they were created after you slap him . Don't tell him just point at the date of creation, And then leave the room afterwards. and make sure it's the back of his head.

Who cares where a game's derived from if it's great. Uncharted 2 & 3 prove you can take elements of all the best games and put it together as something even better than the sum of the parts. You don't need to be the 1st to do something to be the best or most worthy of praise.

funny thing about this game...I had ZERO excitement for this game until yesterday. Now I plan to buy it tomorrow.

Because they saw someone else say something similar in 1997 and thought it was clever so they repeat it for the rest of time in the absence of any other analytical ability. To be honest I think taking elements of other games and improving on them is the way the industry naturally develops. When for eg the 1st open world game was invented others were right to use that as a springboard for better and better games rather than worry about getting called out for ripping the original game off. When you don't improve on what you are drawing inspiration from then you are deserving of criticism.

This is my most anticipated game of the year. The first one is one of my all-time faves. Joe Mad is awesome. Vigil is awesome. Darksiders is awesome. I'm picking it up in a few hours.

I found the Portal dungeon to be very out of nowhere and sort of tedious, but it was challenging and made me use my brain so at the end of the day I liked it.

Giant Bomb review

The adventure has its rough spots and the technical issues are disappointing, but these are relatively small issues in the grand scheme of things. Darksiders II is an exciting and lengthy adventure with interesting characters and a host of items and features that make its mix of combat and puzzle-solving very attractive. It's better if you also played the original game, but even if you didn't, Darksiders II is definitely worth looking at.

I'm actually very satisfied with all the reviews so far (except the IGN one. I have nothing against that reviewer but she's obviously way too die-hard of a Zelda fan to look past the similarities and just nitpicks and bashes it way too much for such a "bang for your buck" game that's coming out during a time of the year with very few compelling new releases). I'm thoroughly happy if 8.5 ends up being the average score Darksiders 2 gets. I understand that it's not for everybody, or rather not AS good as I think it is to every body at least. Some would rather play God of War and Zelda than a game that shamelessly mashes the two together. I don't blame them. GoW and Zelda are legendary. But I'm a real sucker for cool art styles and Darksiders has more creative visuals than Zelda and GoW combined. The people saying that Darksiders' big bulky, armored, intricate, colorful characters are a ripoff of WoW's aesthetic need to seriously pick up any 90s McFarlane, Madureira (obviously) or Witchblade comic book or issue of Wizard magazine. Blizzard did NOT invent this art style. I said it before but Joe Madureira is awesome, Vigil Games is awesome, and I have no doubt that this sequel will be awesome. It's not the best game of this generation of consoles technically speaking (that would be something like MGS4 or Uncharted 2) but I think Darksiders is my personal favorite game franchise of this generation due to its mashup of play mechanics, its comic book style, and its subject matter. Those who disagree most likely have very valid reasons for doing so. But me? I love this series. <3

So annoying. Darksiders 2 is selling on steam and available to download and play RIGHT NOW in Australia but apparently that still doesn't count as breaking the street date. Gotta wait another day while there are people buying and playing it already.
