its a really great book. im surprised by darwyns writing skills on both spirit and superman confidential. he needs to be a dc exclusive and on one of thier main books.

i agree totally. spirit and sup conf are great. i'm glad cooke is signed on for a while with the spirit. what did you think of the 3 story summer issue?

lots of ass sucking.

but you hear frank miller is directing the spirit movie?

never said it was positive but just the fact that there will be a spirit movie.

This is my favorite DC book as of right now. I love Cooke. I think its some major monkey fck me up the anus **** about him leaving . *weeps bitterly*

Yeah, I was pretty depressed earlier.

I love this book, but only for Cooke. Since I seem to keep adding stuff, I think I'm gonna have to drop this one after he's done.

The thing I find pretty funny is, as good as Cooke's Spirit is, it's nowhere near as good as Eisner's. Eisner was THAT goddamn good.

true, i've been colecting a bunch of old eisner spirits. but as i first stated...i think cooke has put a good modern turn on it.

anyone like the spirit summer special?

Yep....Eisner was great.......

Well, from what I've read, Eisner had more well-rounded black characters after he went back to the title after WWII.

The way that black characters were drawn and written back then was practically a tradition. Hell, even Stan Lee, one of the coolest motherf**kers in the comic industry, had to write that character at the beginning of his career when he wrote "Young Allies."

Funny thing is, though, that Cooke has updated and un-stereotyped Ebony in his new books. That takes a hell of a lot of balls, right there, opening that can of worms. Hell, not even Miller, who's practically the ballsiest guy in history, said he wasn't even going to touch Ebony for the movie. :o

Where is it funny ? I disagree ; I never thought Eisner was that big big genius. And I think Cooke did very, very well with the Spirit.

Man, that's messed up that Cooke is leaving. Guess I'll have to wait and see who takes over after him.

Yep....Eisner was great.......
Even if Eisner was - and I'm not saying he was - a poserboy for the KKK, that still doesn't diminish the quality of his stories. Ebony wasn't in all of the Spirit stories. And the ones he wasn't in, where perfectly acceptable, amazingly well-written stories of justice and revenge and simple morals and goodness that everyone could enjoy.

The racially stereotypical nature of Ebony is a bad thing - a horrible thing. I'm not defending it, or endorsing it in the least - but, at the same time, I refuse to judge someone - as a writer - on a foolish prejudice that, honestly, was had by most people back then.

Yet not nearly as good as Eisner. :o
