Sci-Fi David Goyer developing Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" as Apple Series

I had to watch a quick recap video, as there were some characters who suddenly appeared that I could not remember from the 1st season, anyway I've enjoyed the 2 episodes so far, think my only complaint is I am not sure I liked how they introduced 'The Mule'

One episode left, but season 2 has been a huge step up compared to the 1st season, notably the writing, pacing and introduction of certain characters (Hober Mallow and Bel Rios in particular)

Is it really that much better? I gave up on the first season around episode 3, and then skimmed through the rest and was happy I stopped watching. I really wanted to like the show given the production values and cast, but the writing was abysmal. If it's actually improved I might just give it a shot.

The series is definitely a bit of a slog at first but the second half of season 2 I found to be totally worth it.

I loved the visuals but the writing in season 1 was garbage. Is the second season that much better to give it another chance?

Yeah I will say there is a big jump in quality from S1-S2, the plots are finally feeling like they fit together and the storytelling and acting are superb. To me I still enjoyed S1 but it felt at times disjointed

Best scifi show I've seen in a long time.

Also this was a surprise
The Most Unbelievable Thing about Apple TV+’s Foundation Is Its Shockingly Low Budget

The entire first season cost just $45 million to make! To put this number into perspective, it is lower than the budget of The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power’s single episode, which is reportedly around $58 million. The same thing goes for Citadel with a $50 million budget per episode.

Foundation season 2, which premiered last month, may have had a slightly bigger budget, although it’s doubtful that it could’ve reached anywhere near the numbers of those other shows (not by a long shot).

Yeah I remember reading about the budget back when the first season was in production, but the article that originally says that is about its production in Ireland, so I think that amount is what was spent in there only. In any case, it's a very VFX heavy production with many big sets that was filmed on location in five different countries all across the world. Visually speaking, one of the biggest and most beautiful looking things I've seen in television. There's no way that number covers the entirety of season 1.

After reading that Season 2 made some improvements, I decided to find out for myself and finished it.

Season 2 is better than Season 1. The character work beyond the Empire part has improved considerably. Two of the complaints A LOT of people had (besides it not being a faithful adaptation) was that Gaal and Hari didn't have much to do in Season 1 and they both had way more to do in Season 2 along with introducing new lead (and more importantly, likeable!) characters for the time jump. There's more of the sense of adventure in Season 2 like old classic Star Wars, which if they're going to copy anything from that it might as well be that and not what I said before.

Now, there's still a lot (too many) of off-screen happenings for surprises, coincidences, and contrivances particularly as the Season goes on but overall it's better than Season 1 - less disjointed, less annoying (especially characters), and less unwatchable than Season 1 (the Empire parts notwithstanding, those were already good).

I believe they had already started shooting, glad to see it officially announced, by the way does anyone read David Goyer's production notes for each episode, supposedly there was meant to be a scene at the end of S2 but it was too expensive to shoot

EPISODE NOTES 210 – “CREATION MYTHS”

Really hoping they don't reverse their decision on S3 renewal due to budget cost, they already left out a scene in S2 finale because it was too expensive to film .

What makes you think they might?
