The movie will clearly use hypertime, whereby all continuities, past and present (and even future), are valid. :hehe:

Admit it. You've been waiting to post that ever since you became a mod.

Ever since I was born!

They are going to take the best stories, best plots, best arcs, best characters and combine them. They aren't going to be worrying about pre or post crisis because this isn't about the fans. Its about the general public. That is what hurt Superman Returns box office.

The changes in Superman have nothing to do with modern changes in ethics or morals. They have to do with changes in who he is as a person. They were wrongheaded decisions in 1986, IMO, and they continue to be wrong today. And because they were bad decisions, many of them have been undone.

Oh, so you'd be happy with a dick for Superman, rather than the noble, brave, caring person he is today?

Yeah, I know. I was just poking fun at the continuity talk.

You know nothing about Pre-Crisis Superman except what you've been taught by Post-Crisis sycophants.

So what do you guys think will happen if this one does the same as Superman Returns? I don't think it will, but IF it does what do you think WB will decide?

Speaking of Superman Returns, whats happening with Singer, Dougherty & Harris. I heard Singer might do Jack The Giant Killer, but haven't heard anything for a long time. Dougherty was supposed to be making this werewolf Sex & the City tv show, and Harris I haven't heard a single thing. Whats going on with these guys?

Probably the same thing that happened to the Incredible Hulk. Nothing.

I used to talk to Mike off and on, haven't in a good while. Not sure what any of them are up too at this point. Singer hat Battlestar, Giant Killer, and New Class brewing among other projects.

I just wasn't sure what he was going to get to. He's supposed to be doing Jack first, but I haven't heard anything about the movie in a long time. Then he expects he can do X-Men and Battlestar? Can't help the feeling that he's gonna have to drop one of these.

If I were him I would do X-Men: First Class lol.

The latest news about Jack the Giant Killer came in January. It was to the effect that Singer wants to shoot it in 3D and he's negotiating with the studio over whether they'll give him the extra money to do so.

After SR getting 10 million dollar sequences cut and everybody in Hollywood knowing it? Good luck...:o

I'm actually really disappointed Singer is going to the prequel well. Between that and Battlestar, I think both those wells have been thoroughly explored. At least Jack and the Giant Killer is relatively new.

This little movie called Superman Returns happened to them.

Killed their careers :csad:

Again, anyone who believes these silly covers is a true representation of the 1938-1986 Superman, then they just plain don't know what they are talking about.

They were made in that period. You said yourself in that period he acted like a jerk.

Heroes should be heroic.

Well I mean so he can make up for not doing X-Men 3

Except that he can't. X-Men 3 was made, and prequels are narrative dead ends. If he was making X-Men 4, it'd be different.

Well yeah it's a prequel but he can sort of start over and focus on characters that aren't Wolverine lol. It can be seen as sort of a reboot too.

Most of those covers resulted from the oft-used Silver Age practice of drawing attention with a shock cover. But the situation on the cover would often bear little relation to the interior story, or there would be a simple explanation, such as Superman's behavior being affected by some form of Kryptonite or something. Although they provide amusing fodder for websites today, those covers don't reflect how Superman behaved in the Silver Age.

If they get the tone right, ie make it fun and exciting without being campy, they'll have something potentially bigger than Spiderman on their hands. I think they realize this. There was nothing fun or interesting with SR. It was melancholy and boring. Iron Man on the other hand, was a character than hardly anyone in the GA knew anything about, had never been done before in live action but was a huge hit b/c they made a fun, interesting, exciting movie that generate tons of buzz. That should be so much easy for a character like superman with built-in popularity. If they get the tone right and get people talking, they won't have anything to worry about..

I agree and if Star Trek can be made to appeal to the average joe I'm sure Superman can be as well. Well as popular as the Superman movies first were back in the 70's and 80's.
