David O. Russell’s “Amsterdam” (Bale, Robbie, JDW)

This is a stacked line up but David O. Russell is such a trash fire. I hate that I like some of his movies so much.

Cause this person on twitter knows better than all those people as if they’re oblivious.

Hopefully they enjoy petty arguments because I'm sure Russell will be screaming at them plenty. I still feel bad for Amy Adams. (and Lily Tomlin, and anyone else he's freaked out on during his films)

Wait....what’s this now?

He admitted to groping his niece a few years back. She was 19 and transitioning at the time I believe. They were working out and he reached under shirt to touch her breasts. He claimed she was being seductive and invited him to do it. She, being the one who alerted authorities, said she felt violated.

Police ultimately didn’t do anything because they weren’t there to witness it.

Damn...creepy

Thankfully haven't burned too bad by this with filmmakers/actors I love.

Toughest one for me is Polanski but I feel like his best work has a good amount of self-awareness/loathing (especially my favorite, THE TENANT) that somewhat helps me live with liking it.

Used to really like a few Woody Allen movies when I was younger, like MANHATTAN, but I haven't really gone back to them for years now and my conscience probably won't let me.

I got lucky with Woody Allen, I never could get into his movies and I was shocked when I actually liked Midnight in Paris so much. Polanski I never really care about either. I liked The Pianist and I saw Carnage but otherwise I've never cared to seek out his later works.

Carnage is awful. I can't really say much positive about later day Polanski, it's more about Knife in the Water, Repulsion, Rosemary's Baby, The Tenant, and Chinatown for me (and I think Frantic is a bit underrated).

O. Russell is easy for me. He’s both a bad person and makes bad movies!

(three kings is good)

Eh, with this cast and rumored premise, I will pay to watch it. DOR placing Nolan in a headlock is an unfortunate picture moment lost in time.

I mean alright. It's a great cast. And I like a lot of O Russell's movies so I would bank on it being good at the least. Wouldn't be surprised if DeNiro appears also

I just think it's a PR disaster waiting to happen and more trouble than it's worth plus it's not like any of these stars need to work with him for their careers. And it's not like they can fake "We didn't know" type stuff because so much of this has been recorded or spoken about for years. So many people have spoken about his behavior from the to the Three Kings incident, to screaming at Lily Tomlin, to bullying Amy Adams, to groping his niece (*shudder*).
Maybe it's just me, but regardless if I was ok with all that stuff or I didn't mind (and these aren't just allegations these have filmed, admitted to, or at the least spoken about in the Sony hacks by executives) it just seems like a powder keg. Some publicationis going to bring all of these things up or even worse Russell flips out on set (which he's done on every movie except SLP and The Fighter) and then I'll be left answering questions and the movie release could suffer and then it's all just a waste of time. I just don't get why work with a guy like this at this time. Again, even if his behavior itself doesn't bother you.

But hey, it's their lives.

I thought Bale was in Austrailia gearing up for that THOR movie?

He’ll most likely head to Australia after this. Russell’s movies don’t take long to shoot. It’s usually done after two months at most.

Malek has been snatching himself some premium gigs lately. Good for him. This is a period piece? Does anyone have plot details?

Damn. :wow:

Most are probably just small roles but those are some damn good names.

Yeah no way all these people have big roles, but Im excited none the less. This is a stellar cast line up and I'm curious to see how they'll be used and which actors will actualy be having scenes together.
