David S. Goyer attached in a new DC TV Show named ''Krypton

I wasn't too focused on this, but yeah, that was cool.

I vaguely remember reading a few things stating that this is connected or at least loosely tied to the DCEU. But even if it is, it's a prequel so far before Man of Steel, so would the connections even matter?

I hope that voiceover doesn't mean Superman's grandfather knew he would eventually end up on Earth.

That seems exactly like he did. Didn't he even say his name Kal-El too?

Hell you'd think with that foresight nobody'd be caught with their pants down the following generation?

No.

But I wouldn't be surprised based on their aesthetic choices that they'd like to be invited somehow to the DCEU.

Ah ok. I remember hearing somewhere that it served as a prequel to MOS, given that Goyer is on board. Guess not.

Sounds like they may be pulling some "destiny" stuff like they did with Smallville, which really dragged down that show.

Doesn't always work like that. In some stories Krypton's High Council or whatever thought Jor-El was a crazy conspiracy nut. In this version it's his dad that comes off as the nut and by the time they believed Jor-El it was already too late.

And aren't there politicians in office right now that perpetuate that climate change/global warming is a hoax? Not too far off from real life IMO...

It's pretty clear from the trailer it's connected to the DCEU, given the kryptonian sigil key in the slightest.

I am under the impression it is intended to be a part of the DCEU. If I am mistaken, please let me know, but I've done a few searches and read some stuff that says it is intended to be a prequel.

But considering it's on a planet which was destroyed twenty minutes into the first DCEU film there's not a chance to bugger up continuity, tbh

Yep, I hate it when characters have to be told of their great destiny in order to fulfill it. Cheapens the whole journey, imo.

I want a movie where there's this "destiny" and some old fart telling the main character "it's your destiny" and the main character's like "**** this noise I'm going to hooters"

That's pretty much how New 52 Green Arrow was.

I really liked in season 2/3 in Smallville where Jor-El told Clark he sent him there to rule, it was a nice twist. It was just a test on his part though.

oh dip I don't remember that, I'm gonna have to watch them again, I've been meaning to. I focused on getting them all on DVD & Blu-ray before I really got stuck into watching them, but I did watch the first few seasons and have no memory of that.

Man such a great show and I absolutely missed it when it was on what is wrong with me

Problem is, how often do you have a movie where a character rejects their "destiny", and its not viewed as a selfish and petty act? To actually reverse the cliche, you basically need to carefully build a movie so that the character is not rejecting some specific ( heroic ) destiny; they are rejecting the concept that there is a 'destiny' in the first place, with any actual reality and/or moral force. Which is tricky, because arguably *all* movie characters have destinies, because they are just that: characters in a story, whose every action is controlled by a writer.

Oh sure it is a great show.Even I can admit that it probably could have been 2 seasons shorter or something but overall I really like it. I always had a tiny interest in superheroes even before, but it was after seeing Smallville that I started becoming the big fan that I am today. It's also no wonder that Superman is one of my fave characters.
