They knew a straight up prequel would be a dud, so they had to do some crazy, unexpected **** to make it interesting.

That was my impression anyway.

Well, its a premise, I'll grant it that. I kind of wonder, though, was this part of the original pitch? Or is this a rewrite/expansion after someone realized that no one cares about Superman's grandfather?

I'm kinda tired of all these spinoff shows that try to pave their own identity whilst vicariously referencing every popular name and storyline they can fit into their seasons.

I was actually interested in the premise of a Krypton-oriented show, but of course even before the first episode they're already veering off to shoutouts of other brands to boost attention/popularity.

The whole time travel angle could be interesting; I'm not sure if it's a good idea but Adam Strange has always been one of those underutilized DC characters, so maybe this will be cool. I liked what we've seen so far, though I don't know why the Comic Con trailer was so short. There was a much longer one that was released months ago. Makes me wonder if they scrapped a lot of stuff and if the Strange/Hawkwoman subplot is something newly added to give the series a shot in the arm.
