Fantasy David Tennant and Michael Sheen will star in 'Good Omens'

There’s a few more on the twitter page including war and pollution
Had no idea Jack Whitehall was in it. Not going to lie im really not a fan of his stand up but Travels With My Father was hilarious and so was The Bad Education movie and I hadn't seen a single episode.

Yeah I loved travels with my father, absolutely hilarious

Loved the 1st episode, the characters are spot on.

First episode down and Sheen and Tennant are really good and carrying the thing. Unfortunately, I feel like the hyper-active directing style is undermining the humor. It's trying to stuff as many gags and larks in as it can and it's sort of botching how the good stuff actually lands--the timing is off and its rushed, while at the same time it is kind of belaboring certain points unnecessarily. The handling of the baby swap was just incredibly awkward.

I might stick with it but I also started watching Forever and Fleabag on Prime and both of those are working a bit better for me at the moment.

I’m three episodes in and don’t quite know what to make of it. I thought the tone of the show would be a little more dark and serious, but that was certainly an incorrect assumption on my part.

Not sure about the narrative aspect of the show either, and (one would think) an Angel being around for this amount of time would have a bit more personal development through the ages, yet this one doesn’t. I know it’s fictional and all, but would a little real world ‘attributes’ hurt?

That being said, can’t fault any of the cast in their portrayals. Tennant and Sheen are both stand out actors. There’s only six episodes to the series so I may as well stick with it.

Pros: great cast, great visuals, staying close to the novel

Cons: feels too rushed, some book dialogue clunky when spoken, way too Americanised.

I thought that was funny. You have some of the most British of British actors in it and you think it is too Americanized. Not to mention Neil Gaiman was heavily involved with it.

You'd think Amazon could've put just a tiny bit more dollars to the CGI budget though. The CGI is in some parts like from the early nineties :D

Still enjoying the show. David Tennant is just the GOAT.

You think? I actually thought it was too British.
This me as I watch the third episode. Some references are flying by me. It's not a deal breaker, though. I'm still enjoying it. :)

This show was much needed after the utter failure of "American Gods" season two. The casting of Tennant and Sheen was a homerun.

Just finished it. Very, very, VERY British.

But... Well clever conceits aside... Meh. Bit of a head scratcher all around in terms of the presentation of it all. I came away just wishing it was all about Michael and David's characters and junk literally all the rest. And even then... I think I never really understood how or why these two were actually friends or even fond of one another.

Not bad or even terrible all around but... Man did I expect a lot more at the end of it all and honestly found much of the story and what the characters were supposed to be either tedious and boring or just too smugly clever. Too smugly clever kinda sums up the whole deal. The humor such as it was just seemed more preening and try hard. The satirical commentary negated anything deep it was trying to say about reality (I.E. "God") or humanity, which was a big issue in terms of the overall story because not only didn't I get why our Angel and Demon protagonists ever had any affinity for humanity, humanity itself as the show presented didn't feel like it was worth saving so things like the Anti-Christ's "humanity" being the key at the end fell very flat to me. In fact a lot of the characters over all felt flat, just walking, talking "examples" of something but not really fleshed out characters. As such this all felt like it had moments where it was engaging but then it would lose me for long stretches.

Clever but ultimately empty is how I would sum it up.

Agreed that this is very British. If I didnt know if was an Amazon show I'd think it was a BBC show. It's even got that cheap looking BBC quality CGI.

After episode one Sheen and Tennant are the only reasons I'm gonna watch episode 2.

I am someone who loves very British things. British sport, British shows, British films, British news. I do it all. This show was kind of a mess. It felt very slow and a lot of the time felt like it was paying lip service to a lot of the characters presence, more then truly telling their story or even including them. The ending felt almost like RotK and some of the dialogue and gratuitous use of Queen was super cringey. I didn't like the older Witch Finder at all. And yet... I kind of loved it. The journey felt worth it. I could watch Sheen and Tennant fall in love forever. Adria Arjona needs to be in more things. I really hope there is a sequel. I am so curious where it could go.

yeah, everything I've read makes it sound like I need to get back to watching it. Sheen and Tennant are undeniable as the leads, that's for sure.

The CGI was sub par and there were probably too many characters for such a short series. The kids weren't particularly well fleshed out, and I think we needed to see more of them and their relationship with Adam. And I wouldn't have minded spending more time with Ms. Arjona, who was very good in her role and might be the best looking person on the planet.

But as others have stated, Tennant and Sheen are fantastic, the poor effects kinda match the show's goofiness, and I did enjoy the light blasphemy. Solid 8 out of 10 for me. Enjoyable summer viewing.

I enjoyed it, it really reminded me of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in its tone, with a bit of Dogma.

Sheen and Tennant are the main reasons to watch it, though. They were clearly having a blast. Wish they'd been in it more but I guess they were also side characters in the book.

Only just finished episode two so far loving every second of it, its making me really want another show with Tennant & Sheen as they just bounce so well of one another so well.

Or just don't watch it. But then these are the kinds of people who've got a chronic problem with trying to force their opinions on everyone.

There is a lot of stuff I don't like (particularly with certain religious types) but you don't see me or much of anyone else going around calling for them to be banned. Though maybe that should change.
