Regardless -- it's what I would have liked to have seen (James Cameron agreed)...and perhaps it would have helped the tone of the series overall...

It might have given it a bit more credibility, yes. But Bassett is 10 years older than the other key cast members, and she is short and of quite a solid build. Ideal for strutting about as Tina Turner, not totally convinced she would be a good Storm.

Angela also would've delivered that corny ass "Do you know what happens..." line with masterful sista gurl swagger that would've been actually funny in the right way. I can see her walking away from a fried Toad with the same fierceness she had in Waiting To Exhale.

Angela would've been an intimidating Storm. But I must give Halle some credit: she was scary as hell in X2 when she was creating those tornadoes. The way she was slightly turning her head from side to side was both beautiful and creepy. Even Jean looked over at her in awe and was like, "Oh this chicka has checked out for realz". And that's saying something.

True. But then again Halle hasn't aged either. I was watching The Wolverine last night and was impressed with how gorgeous Famke also looked: these actresses have taken great care of themselves.

Halle never had the "regal aire" that Angela commands when she walks into a scene or is on screen.

Either way if it ever gets rebooted, Danai Gurira is my first choice for Storm

Both Famke and Halle have aged noticeably. The difference is that they have always looked younger then their actual age. When Halle was 40, she looked closer to 30. Not that she is approaching 50, she looks closer to 40. Incredible really, but she doesn't look like she did in the early 2000s.

Agree, and I think it is because they didn't try and make her look like Jean. To make her hair a part of some kinda costume.
