DC Animated - All-Star Superman

I like the animation too. It's not 100% Quitely, but he'd be a really hard person to try to emulate in animation (****, even in Public Enemies, the designs weren't quite 100% McGuinnes and that guy's stuff is made for animation), but I still think they did a good job.

yet another superman story. then another batman story. man dc you really love batman and superman. meanwhile the other characters get little bit size teasers. how about the flash, then the martian manhunter, and hawkman. at least the main jla members.

I really don't get how many times were going to have to go over this. It's getting tiring.

I loved Denton's voice for Superman though.

I also liked Denton's voice for Superman.

Does anyone know if 'All Star Superman' will include a DC Showcase short, and if so who will it feature?.........I only ask because IMDB.NET says that Vicki Lewis is rumoured to voice Wonder Woman in the upcoming 'Green Lantern: Emerald Knights' DVD- - and I can't imagine where WW would fit into a GL Corps centered anthology movie.

I wouldn't trust IMDB for any future movie news. All of their information is user-submitted.

Not to mention that a majority of IMDb's users are borderline mentally challenged...

Good trailer. Really looking forward to some bad ass luthor!

Yeah, I'm aware of IMDB's reputation, but I was hoping that someone here had any news about the future of the Showcase shorts line.

Yet again, This online survey list of DC Showcase shorts, http://www.toonzone.net/forums/showp...40&postcount=1, have been posted since right after the release of the spectre and before the announcements of jonah hex, green arrow and superman/shazam! t'That's 4 confirmation in a row! Its safe to assume the next 4 on the list will be next! Just a matter of confirmation... :cwink: :word: :awesome:

Possible Short features under "DC Showcase"

THE SPECTRE The Spectre is vengeance incarnate, and when a duo of murderers incur his wrath, they find that there are far worse punishments than simply getting caught. Rated PG-13

There Catwoman uncovers an international slavery ring, which she has to bring down to save its victims, including the cat's owner. Written by famed Batman scribe Paul Dini. Rated PG-13.

LOBO Lobo, the grungiest, most self-centered interstellar mercenary this side of the Milky Way, has his hands full when he reluctantly accepts the assignment of delivering a baby to the royal family of a distant planet. He can't understand why forces are trying to stop him, until he completes his delivery and discovers that the baby is really an intergalactic assassin intent of destroying the royal king. Rated PG-13.

GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT What if Bruce Wayne had been born in Victorian Times? That's the question posed by "Gotham by Gaslight," which features a turn-of-the-century Batman trying to track down a Jack the Ripper killer on the foggy, cobblestone streets of Gotham City. Based on the acclaimed graphic novel. Rated PG-13. :hrt:

GREEN ARROW While at the airport to pick up his girlfriend Black Canary, Green Arrow comes head-to-head with some of his greatest enemies who are intent on assassinating a newly arrived young princess from America. Rated PG-13.

BOOSTER GOLD/BLUE BEETLE In a parody of a buddy cop movie, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle are on surveillance duty, watching the apartment building of a diabolical scientist. SUPERMAN/SHAZAM As Clark Kent interviews street kid Billy Batson, he realizes that the feisty kid has a lot of heart. When Billy is chosen by an ancient wizard to turn into the hero Captain Marvel just by invoking the word, "Shazam!" Billy's powers come none-too-soon, because he also discovers that he's being pursued by a centuries' old, murderous villain, Black Adam, who is out to destroy Captain Marvel and is so powerful, not even Superman can stop him. Rated PG-13.

The DC Showcase animated shorts included on future DC Universe direct-to-DVD animated releases may be 10-15 minutes in length. However, extended versions of the animated shorts you read about earlier may be released as a collection on DVD for $12.99.

The source link no longer works thou... :csad:

LOVE the comic series. This looks ok so far, I just hate the pouty lips..... Superman doesn't have pouty lips! :cmad: :csad: It's so damn distracting..

As someone who doesn't like Superman and hasn't read this story(I should, I heard it was great) I really want to see this.

Figured they wouldn't be able to replicate Quitely's style closely.

Not sure aboout Hendrick's voice as Lois.
It wouldnt look good in animated form though, would it?
Cardellini :hrt:
Seconded!
I just cringe at the thought of tis being dumbed down, and of the things they will have to cut. I worry about the prospect of this being turned into just another all-action adventure, in which case they could have so easily adapted something else.

It doesn't seem like a coincidence to me that the best of the DTV's so far was an adpatation written by the author of the original text. I realise that Morrison doing that in this case would have meant sacrificing one of his upcoming comics, so why not just do something else? Superman for all seasons would be particularly good i feel.
Even though the magic of the original would be lost, there are some parts that can be omitted without affecting the basic story behind it. Besides, arent kids the target audience?

Great cast. Especially Anthony LaPaglia as Lex.

Does anyone have any guesses as to who Cardellini, Vosloo and Gubler could be playing?
Meh. Where is Clancy Brown? :csad:

On another note, did you guys notice the music? Very TDK-esque!

Dont sounds like TDK soundtrack, IS TDK soundtrack. When i see the trailer form the 1° time, i imagine the Superman movie by Nolan...

Well, once you're use to hearing someone's voice as a character for years, it does throw you for a loop to hear a different voice for the same character.

I do agree with the pouty lips. They are distracting. That's my only complaint. This looks great! I actually just started reading Volume 1 of All Star Superman tonight, three chapters into it, loving it so far. :D

No, all of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies are rated PG-13.

Kinda wish they'd come up with a different title, since "All Star" has nothing to do with this movie.

I get that, but this has been the 4th Lex since Brown first did it. It's 5th Superman since Daly. There's also been 5 Batmans since Conroy. You'd think people would get used to it by now.

I'm not elitist.

I just get sick of people whining that Brown, Conroy, Daly and Hamill aren't doing the voices every time there's a new movie.

I'm with this guy.

As much as I love them, the sooner everyone accepts the fact that it wont always be those four and gets over it, the better off we'll all be. We've gotten some great performances without them. I loved James Marsters' Lex. I loved Greenwood's Batman and Kyle McLachlan's Supes. Denton and LaPaglia both sound great, too. It's just time to move on. If we get the originals to voice again, that's awesome, but if we dont it's just something we have to accept and keep and open mind about.

Marsters, MacLachlan and Greenwood were fantastic.

DiMaggio's Joker was pretty good too. Not as great as Hamill, of course, but that's impossible. :woot:

I like Sisto's Batman too.

Well unless Superman joins the Metropolis Monarchs or Smash Mouth, I don't see what could possibly be "All Star" about it.
 Its the name DC gives to certain elseworlds stories. The book was named that way and so is the movie based on it.
