DC Animated - All-Star Superman

"All Star" refers to the creative team who worked on the books; Morrison/Quietly and Miller/Lee. It doesn't work for the movie.

Blade Runner is the name of the Ridley Scott adaptation of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Yes but these movies are being specifically tailored for a certain group and they will recognize it by that name. So changing the name doesnt hurt or help them so why not just use it.

Yeah the story could easily be "Superman's last adventure" or something. I don't wanna use the title "Whatever Happened to the Man of Steel" since thats another story alltogether.

Best one so far to me has been Wonder Woman which was just fantastic.

that to date is my fave made for home video DC movie, it is so epic, from the voice acting, to the story, to the music, its an all around awesome movie one I would like to see done in a future live action film it had it all :D.

I cant wait to see the cover for this. The past few DC Universe DTV covers have been fantastic.

Two other Superman stories I'd really like to see adapted into direct to video animated movies are Superman: War of the Worlds and Superman: Secret Identity.

What's so great about Secret Identity? I read the plot on Wiki and i dont get it.

IMHO Superman: Secret Identity is one of the best Superman stories ever. It's epic, beautiful, touching and shows one of the most realisticversions of Superman ever. In this story similar to Superboy of Earth-Prime a kid in the “real” world named Clark Kent, his parents were fans of Superman and thought it’d be funny to name their son Clark. So he grows up hating Superman since everyone assumes he absolutely loves and knows everything about Superman, having the same name. After he suddenly gains the powers of the fictional superhero Superman and embarks on a super-heroic career. Sometime after high school he moves to New York becomes a writer and marries a woman named Lois Chaudhari and eventually has two twin daughters, Carol and Jane. Who also embark on a super-heroic careers of careers of their own. All while hideing from and eventually helping the U.S govermet. as well as trying to keep his existence secret from the world at large.

I loved the preview they had on the S/B: Apocalypse DVD. Great to see how much of the story they kept in the movie.

I wonder who'll get a statue with this DVD release... Crisis on Two Earths was Owlman, Under the Red Hood was Red Hood and Apocalypse was Supergirl. I'm guessing the one for this will be either Superman or Lex.

Personally, I think they missed a trick by not casting John Hamm as Superman opposite Hendrick as Lois. Or would that be too meta?

John Slattery for Lex Luthor? Robert Morse for Perry White?

Actually, thinking about it, Joel Murray (Freddy Rumsen) has a real S:TAS Perry look about him and would probably mike a fine Editor-In-Chief for a future live action picture.

I loved watching the making on my copy of Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. This look like this going to be very good. I also like the animation look design of Superman for this film it looks so much better than the All-star comic .

Yeah this looks really good. I also agree with the Mad Men orgasm that Jeremy had up there. ;) :awesome:

John Slattery could actually be a really interesting live action Luthor, if he was willing to shave off that iconic head of white hair.

If John Slattery should play anyone, it's King Faraday.

As you should!

I'm pretty much in favour of John Slattery playing anyone he feels like, but I think he'd be well suited to either of those parts.

From toonzone DC Animation forums and wired.com...

So, there is a dude named Grant Morrison. And apparently he's seen this movie. And he likes it.

Quote:
I saw the movie and it’s one of my top three superhero movies ever,” said Morrison. “Only the superfans are going to complain, because the film has about 90 percent of my stuff in it. Much of it is actual dialogue taken from the book.”

Wow, they didnt even ask him to write or help with the production of it (talk about a dick move) and yet he's cool with it. Well at least that's what he says in interviews and that's enough for me.

Stay classy Grant!

:whatever:
Who's to say they didn't and he was just busy?

Word is that Grant Morrison did a commentary for the DVD/Blu-ray release... and Frank Quitely is doing the official cover for the release. :yay:

Sounds good to me... and I guess that the commentary will replace the showcase on this release.
