DC Animated Movies wish list

I know I've said it before, but I'd really love to see a Wonder Woman 2, with Circe as the main villain.

I still want a Flash/Green Lantern anthology DVD dealing with different adventures for the different men who've held those titles over the years (first a Jay/Alan segment, then a Barry/Hal segment and finally a Wally/Kyle segment).

I'd love to see a "Life & Death Of Superman" movie which is closer to the comics than the "Superman vs Doomsday" movie which came out a few years back. Make it a two parter, "The JLA vs Doomsday". Part One is the classic JLA (or at least the JLA from the animated series) taking on Doomsday, and he eliminates them one by one until it's down to him and Superman. Then in Part Two you have the introduction of all the other Supermen. The teenaged clone, the Cyborg, The Eliminator, Steel, and then the severely weakened Kal-El. It ends when The Eliminator sacrifices himself to give Kal-El his powers, and The Evil Cyborg is defeated.

That would be :awesome:.

That could be a lot of fun. Like the GL Corps stories, but with Flash and GL and an interconnected perhaps time traveling villain...

So wait Doomsday killed Batman , Flash & Wonder Woman happened in the comics ? Must have missed those issues ...

No. What I mean is, the JLA that took on Doomsday in the comics were pretty lame, made up of a bunch of second stringers I had never heard of until I read that particular series. Booster Gold. Fire. Ice. Maxima. Blue Beetle. Guy Gordon. I mean, granted I hadn't read a Superman or JLA comic for years, but I would have expected at least a few of the classic members to still be there. Hawk Man, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Batman, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter. You know, SOMEONE. Anyways, Doomsday didn't kill any of the JLA during his rampage, even these B-Listers. Fire, Ice, Blue Beetle, Guy Gardner, none of these characters are super invulnerable like Superman. Only reason Booster Gold didn't die was due to his suit's forcefield. Even after the forcefield failed and Doomsday slammed his head in a car door repeatedly, all that did was send him to the hospital. Basically, he was toying with them, like a cat with a mouse.

So in an animated Doomsday movie, have him take on the originals (or at the very least, the members used in the television series). Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and Hawk Girl. Possibly even toss Captain Marvel into the mix, just to even the odds a little bit. And if they can use characters from the later episodes, like Zatanna, Supergirl, Black Cannery, Green Arrow, and Plastic Man, then great. It makes Doomsday look just that much more badass by pounding through all of them too. As he sends them all to the hospital, it ends up becoming a one on one fight between him and Superman, just like in the comics. The movie ends with Superman and Doomsday "killing" each other, and Superman's funeral.

In the second movie we have the introduction of the new Supermen. The Eliminator, who has all of Superman's powers, some of his memories, but gives no quarter to the criminal element. The clone, who was accidentally released too soon and is really just a teenager. Steel, who was once rescued by Superman and wishes to pay him back by donning a suit of armor and adopting Superman's crest. And The Cyborg, who turns out to be a genetically altered Metallo. Then, of course, the real Superman returns, but in an extremely weakened state. Once Metallo reveals his true identity, the good Supermen team up to stop him. The Eliminator places himself between Kal-El and a blast of green kryptonite radiation, transferring his powers into Kal-El, sacrificing himself to make the real Superman whole again. Then Superman kicks some Metallo ass.

And possibly do a third movie, where Doomsday returns to Earth, Superman learns his true origins, and faces off with him for round two.

The problem I have with the Superman vs Doomsday movie that came out a few years back is that they tried to cram the first two story arcs into one movie. There's just way too much, and they had to cut out just about everything from the story in order to cram it into 90 minutes. It felt rushed. Taking your time, making the first movie a JLA movie, making the second movie about all the Supermen, then possibly a third movie where we learn Doomsday's true origins, is the smarter way to go. It would be more expensive, but more people will enjoy it more, buy more copies of all three movies, and thus they will make more money.

See, these are the changes I would make for a new Doomsday vs JLA animated movie. Replace Maxima with Wonder Woman. Replace Blue Beetle with Batman. Replace former Green Lantern, Guy Gardner with actual Green Lantern, John Stewart. Replace Booster Gold with Martian Manhunter. And replace Bloodwynd with Captain Marvel. And Fire and Ice can be replaced by Flash and Hawk Girl.

I like too see Brian Azzarello's and Lee Bermejo's Lex Luthor: Man of Steel and The Joker as animated films.

That could be nice. What style of animation? Surely the stuff they're doing now, while nice, wouldn't do Bermejo's art justice.

Perhaps. Plus they've just GOT to start doing something to get the Flash more exposure. He deserves it. All the Flashes deserve it.

Put me down for a Jonah Hex movie. Timm and company could do one right. Unrealistic to think one will ever get made, sure, but I can dream.

Something else I'd like to see animated is Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader? I think it would have made for a great Brave and the Bold episode.

BH/HHH I would love to see that and I'm almost surprised that we haven't already given that the Christopher Reeve's version of Superman is so near and dear to so many of us.

Agreed, and Reeve is and will always be the one true Superman to me.

In no order:

Blackest Night

Hush

Killing Joke

Batman vs. Predator (if Dark Horse/DC can work it out)

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight

Geoff Johns and Francis Manapul's Superboy: The Boy of Steel.

I'm weary of Batman being the only thing they do.. there are other characters i the DCU.. especially now with the DCnU, there are rebooted concepts they can explore now.. Justice Society, etc.

I would like to see more movies with original ideas. I'll take Justice League (the show) story arcs over some of these recent adaptions any day.

Agreed.

Make it a trilogy of movies.

This is what i came to this thread to say. It needs done. Perhaps foklow Denny O'Neil's novelization though. It does a good job of condensing all th lead-in material and extraneous bat world elements in a comprehensible and
cinematic way.

While we are at it, i'd like to see A Lonely Place of Dying done. It's too bad they left Tim Drake out of Under the Red Hood, because it could have paved the way for A Lonely Place of Dying and there were some really good parts between Tim and Jason in that comic. To show Bruce in the aftermath of losing Jason and have this kid come along and puzzle Batman's identity out and save his hash would have worked great as a prequel to Under The Red Hood. I wish Tim were there. On a related note, Under The Red Hood did wonders for A Death In The Family by having Joker tied to Ra's and the League of Assassins instead of Iran and Khomeini.

I think it would be nice to do Blackest Night as an animated movie.I do hope they did this new Justice League Doom coming out Feb right.

I actually wish that they'd stop making them as the quality has been nowhere near the level of the Justice League series. I'd rather they adapt the stories in a tv series as they just seem to work better, probably for pacing reasons and a developed continuity. These stand alone stories have just been poor overall.

I'd like to see John Byrne's Superman & Batman: Generations made into an animated movie.

The more I think about it,the more I'd love to see a Batman movie from Two Face's point of view. Either that or at least The Long Halloween adaptated. Harvey Dent is such a complex character that I'm really surprised they haven't made one spotlighting him yet.
