DC Comics Solicitations for August of 2010:

For anyone wondering, popular theory regarding the identity of the White Canary that she's some sort of time-displaced Sin, who was mentioned twice in the issue.

I think I've overused the Psyduck smiley to an unholy degree lately, but there's really no better time for it than right now:

Not heard that one, that would really throw a loop...or I guess not since people are guessing. That's..yeah, not sure what to think of that one

The plot just inserted it's magical c*** into my ear and ****ed my mind:wow:

This could be either really awful or really good. As Gail Simnehas previously done a bang up job on Birds of Prey I am leaning toward the latter. But I sort of hope this theory is wrong.

I'm not joking

WILDCATS VERSION 3.0: YEAR ONE TP
Written by JOE CASEY
Art and cover by DUSTIN NGUYEN
In this new title collecting issues #1-12 of the pivotal WILDCATS series, Spartan decides that his team can do more for the Earth as responsible corporate citizens than heroes. But the rest of the team won’t adjust to the stuffy suit-and-tie lifestyle so easily…

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, it must be mine! :D :D :D

They should really collect the vol. 2 stuff as well. At least "Serial Boxes." That, the stuff Moore wrote with the Wildcats on Khera, and v3.0 are easily the best Wildcats comics.

I've not read his take on the characters but it certainly sounds different

If your only exposure to the Wildcats is Jim Lee's stuff from volume 1, it's much, much different. But it's also much, much better. It's corporate superheroics, basically--politics, branding (long before Morrison reintroduced that concept with Jason Todd in Batman & Robin recently), espionage, and all the other stuff associated with corporate drama applied to the Wildcats. Casey did a fantastic job with it, too.

Further thoughts:

- Yay for more Welcome to Tranquility! I hope it's as good as it was when Simone totally abandoned it without much closure like 3 years ago.

- Glad Jack Horner and some of the other supporters from Jack of Fables' earlier stories are returning. I love Jack Frost, but it was becoming kind of ridiculous how long he had the whole series all to himself. I missed Jack Horner's wryness. :)

- Much as I love Madame Xanadu, there's a total grammatical no-no in the solicit. [grammar geek]Sammy smells badly if his nose doesn't work properly. Sammy smells bad if he emits a foul odor.[/grammar geek]:oldrazz:

- Really looking forward to picking up Northlanders again. I never should've dropped it. The story in August sounds good; church vs. paganism conflicts back when Christianity was still gaining ground usually make for good reading.

IDES OF BLOOD #1
Written by STUART C. PAUL
Art by CHRISTIAN DUCE
Cover by MICHAEL GEIGER
The year is 44 B.C. Julius Caesar has conquered Transylvania, and vampyres are Rome’s new slave class. But when rich mortals start turning up dead with fang marks on their necks, Valens, a vampyre slave-turned-Roman soldier, plunges into the blood-soaked underworld of Rome to capture the Pluto’s Kiss Killer. If he can prove himself, he’ll earn rank and riches beyond what anyone this side of the Tiber has ever seen! But if he fails, he just might find himself on top of the pile of bodies!
Don’t miss this crimson-red, 6-issue thriller that mixes the undead intrigue of True Blood with the brutal Roman action and political drama of Spartacus from newcomers Stuart C. Paul and Christian Duce!
On sale AUGUST 18 • 1 of 6 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US
Has anyone heard of any of the creators involved with this? It sounds like a fun concept but I've literally never heard of any of these people.

****ing love Joe Casey and his Wildcats run is my favourite one. Related to that the crap that happened to him at DC has really put me off DC recently.

And nope not head of any of them creators actually.

Basically the same reason why Rucka isn't going to be writing for DC anymore. They just have no respect for their work-for-hire creators.

Well, DC's loss is our gain,

The next thing on the horizon is the "Officer Downe" one-shot that myself and Chris Burnham have dreamed up. We announced it at WonderCon for a July release. It turned out to be a blast of a book to do. Pure creative adrenalin exploding all over. It's like a European album of hyper-violence and badge-bearing bloodletting... only it's completely American made, baby. Something else that was announced last year is my next collaboration with Andy Suriano, "Doc Bizarre, M.D.," which has ballooned into a nice little OGN. It's a cool bit of madcap horror. Scooby-Doo meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Hopefully, that'll be out by the end of the year.

But that's really just the tip of the iceberg. There's maybe five more projects that are in various stages of writing and development. Something with Mike Huddleston that we've been talking about for two years, called "Butcher Baker, the Righteous Maker," a twisted, adults-only tale of demented superfiction and two-lane blacktop mayhem. It's a book where we're really going to experiment with the form a bit. Mike's a massive talent and he's specifically asked me to push him in artistic directions he'd never been pushed before. I told him, "Not a problem." I'm also doing a massive superhero maxi-series with artist David Messina, who was actually going to take over the art chores on my "Youngblood" relaunch before Eric Stephenson wisely advised us to do something creator-owned instead.

I'll be picking up all of these.

That's because Didio's lips are firmly glued to his ass.

I just made myself feel a little ill with that mental image...
